Today we’d like to introduce you to Gilda De La Calle.
Gilda, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
It all started with a Cuban family of five leaving the communist government of Cuba in search of freedom and a better life. Fernando DeLaCalle always had a vision that in order for the quality of life to improve one needs to have the platform for that to happen, and the one place he always dreamed of taking his family was the US, and is the place where one can really live the “American Dream”. His wife Dr. Gilda DeLaCalle was a current practicing physician and re validated her medical license in the United States as a Family Practice General Physician. Our company was founded on 2003, and has since surpassed major milestones of growth, and achieved many goals. Thanks to the combined experience of our staff, and Dr. Gilda De La Calle, we have managed to serve many patients over a period of many years. We have served and currently serve patients with and without insurance (Medicaid/Medicare/ Private, Self-pay). This newly founded company is owned by the Medical provider, and can be considered a true family company. The office manager, David De La Calle, is the middle sibling and has been in charge of the company’s administration. The oldest sibling, Karina Lobaina, studied Dentistry in Washington DC, and graduated from Howard University in December, 2014. In 2015 Dr. Lobaina was included as a member of our practice as our general dental practitioner. Today, we are blessed to own two private medical facilities, and provide many services for our patients.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles we have faced along the way include the very beginning, when we could not afford the luxury of spending much money due to our economic status. We had to learn how to administer our money wisely in order to have the main necessities like food and a rented place to live. Other struggles include Gilda De La Calle’s ability to stay focused in the medical field and being able to obtain a loan in order to take and pass the medical boards and re validate her license. Another struggle has been conquered thanks to our friends and relatives being able to help in the relocation our facility various of times along the way. Finally, we have surpassed the challenge of being able to update our health record systems various of times and today are fully HIPAA compliant and have a fully electronic cloud based health record system that the doctor uses to attend to her patients anywhere she needs to have access.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about DeLaCalle Medical Center – what should we know?
We are a Family Medicine General Practice medical center that goes outside of the spectrum and provides not only medical services (Diagnostic: X-ray, Ultrasound, Laboratory, etc.) (Women’s health: Gynecological procedures) but also Dental services. We have a mission as a medical & dental provider company to accurately serve our community, providing them with the best treatment possible. We will do this by accurately diagnosing our patients, giving them the gold standard latest treatment plan available, and following up with our patient prognosis. Dr. DeLaCalle and staff are dedicated to providing you with a pleasant visit and results. Our administrative staff is ready to help you with questions about procedures, insurances, results to make that part of the process as simple as possible.
