Meet Genevieve Clements of eveeclem in Doral

Today we’d like to introduce you to Genevieve Clements.

Genevieve, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
My journey has not been a particularly long one- yet. I got my first DSLR camera when I was in the 7th grade. I began using my camera on fully auto just to have fun and take “cool” pictures of my friends. I slowly but surely became more interested in what my camera could do and in photography overall.

I was excited to take my first photography class in high school, but it ended up being a disappointment to me because the class was basically a joke. However, that pushed me to go on and learn what I could on my own. I went to a performing arts high school and was in both the photography and TV production programs. TV production taught me a lot, and I was able to have chances to travel and participate in the biggest student television network competitions.

There is so much talent in these competitions that it built up my drive to want to go further. I decided I liked photography more than videography and during my junior and senior year is when I finally came to the conclusion that photography had become not only something I love but a part of me as a person. I started winning competitions, and it felt amazing. Then came college applications and I knew I wanted to leave Florida and go somewhere with major opportunities and a thrilling lifestyle.

Today, I am a sophomore in college in New York City, and I could not be more grateful for where I am and everyone I have worked with thus far. Although my major is not photography, I ultimately still want to do something within the field in the future. Even though everyone says this, photography IS a huge creative outlet for me, and I know I will never stop taking photos and chasing my dreams.

Has it been a smooth road?
I feel like no road to chasing your dreams is never a “smooth” one. There is always struggles along the way, but these struggles are what help me grow and continue on. I may send out 300 emails and only get one back, and the focal point is not that I ONLY get one email back, it is that I DID get an email back!

So let’s switch gears a bit and go into the eveeclem story. Tell us more about the business.
I specialize in portraits and most of everyone I have taken photos ends up becoming one of my friends. I love shooting with people and being able to build a connection with them. I also enjoy shoots that are conceptual and not too many photographers create stories within their photos anymore.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
Luck will always be a tole in everyone’s career, whether creative or not. Connections are literally everything nowadays and can potentially get you anywhere. I have been working on building my connections because I started with none and nothing got handed to me.
