Today we’d like to introduce you to Frankie Midnight.
So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I am a recording, performing, creative artist of music, stage, and screen, based out of Miami Gardens, FL. My style of music is widely ranged from Indie R&B, Eclectic Pop, Hard Rock, Classic Metal, Progressive, Psychedelic, Pop, Grunge, Punk, Ballad, Funk, Soul, R&B, Jazz, Reggae, Hip–Hop, and Folk. My acting style is influenced by classical, method, theater, and cinema performance.
I brought my first acoustic guitar at age 13 (with the money I earned from selling candy in school) and became attached. Exiling myself in my room, I practiced and familiarized myself with my guitar, covering songs by listening to a record and then mimicking what I heard. I began using the same technique with the piano, bass, organ, keyboards, and drums, recreating entire songs (with my home recording interface), performing every instrument until my final rendition was an exact replica to the original version. I started writing, composing, arranging and producing my own music shortly after at age 16, engineering and mixing my home recordings. I started many local bands around town in which they would perform my original compositions in Miami, FL. I like to think of myself as a one of a kind performer with an energy that has not been felt since the glory days of the ‘Motown Soul’ back in the 60’s, the ‘Glam Rock and Disco’ craze of the 70’s, the ‘Retro Pop Rock ’ of the 80’s, and the ‘Edge’ of the 90’s, beautifully entwined to create my specific sound and style.
Before there was music in my path, there was always performance art; theater performance. As a youth, I studied the teachings Sandford Meisner’ Method Acting techniques along with classical theater acting and performed in many local theater productions such as Miami Stage Production of “A Raisin in the Sun” (starring as Travis Younger), Juggerknot Theater Co. production of “Miami Motel Stories”, Dice Raw production of “Henry Box Brown”, and many other stage productions. I began writing and performing my own scripted monologues, challenging perception through concepts of love, God, emotion, and mental perspective. Through my performance, I become an illusion of fantasy and reality, entrancing my audience with elements of nostalgia while reflecting their own fears, hypocrisy, and overall beauty.
On February 14th, 2018, I released my debut Indie Theater Pop album, “Love Stories” which was digitally released on iTunes, Google Play Store, Apple Music, Spotify, Tidal and Deezer. 3 music videos were shot for the album which can be streamed on my Youtube channel “Frankie Midnight” and as of now, I’m performing in my original one-man theater adaptation of my album, June 14-16 (tickets available on Eventbrite)!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every day is a constant struggle to achieve my ideal success due to lack of information and financial resources. Because I strive to accomplish great success as an entrepreneur within artistic independence, the challenges are doubled yet I live for arts and entertainment which is in my blood and inbred within my make-up. I’m grateful to have the power of creativity and imagination and I believe I will achieve great things through focus, diligence, faith in myself, faith in Jesus, and applying myself to the world. I have something to say through my creative works and I want the world to listen.
Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
Frankie Midnight is a creative artist of music, stage, and screen. Here’s a list of skills that I am known for:
– Multi-Musician of guitar/bass guitar/piano/drums/harmonica/vocals
– Songwriter, composer, producer, recording engineer
-Scriptwriter, director, cinematographer, film editor
What sets me apart from others is my originality. I’m myself and I love my style and what I’m about which is far from this world. I refrain from dimming my light in hopes that my light shine bright and inspire those around me to shine their light.
What are you striving for, what criteria or markers have you set as indicators of success?
I’m striving to be the best performer, artistic creator of music, stage and screen, and overall decent human being. I want to be a morally positive role model for children and will actually be working on my next music project which will be a children’s album moreso songs for children and the child at heart. I want to create art that your children can engage in and left with a positive and intelligent imprint. Songs that uplift, heal, and teach quality life values as well as visual art that inspire. Of course, my music may never be as popular as mainstream contemporary music and the radio may never play my songs that will definitely be contrary to pop music of today; being morally correct isn’t the “in thing” however, I won’t change who I am and what I stand for. With these markers set for my success, I believe that success would be met if my next artistic works left a positive impact on anyone that took time and listened to my music or witnessed my performances to come.
