Today we’d like to introduce you to Eve Joss.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Eve. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Rooms by Eve is a full-service interior design company located in Boca Raton, Florida. I have earned my qualification in interior design in South Africa at the DVR academy of design. In 2009, I relocated to Florida with my family (married and have three daughters) where my journey into interior design has continued to flourish.
I’m also a qualified phycologist (M.S.) and love combining my passion for people with my passion for design. I started my career in Human Resources where my role was predominantly interviewing and personality assessments. In South Africa, I took part in implementing reverse discrimination in the workplace, a drive to reverse decades of exclusion under apartheid.
After a decade in the field, I decided to make a change into a more creative, ‘less serious ‘ industry and follow my passion for design. My knowledge of human behavior has led me to look at design from a larger perspective. I combine the two fields in a way that allows me to transform my client’s spaces, and create homes where people and families can be their happiest.
Much research has been done on the topic of the effect of interior design on a person’s moods and general well being. Elements such as color, lighting, space and geometry, furniture and organization all play a role in a person’s mood and on a healthy quality of life.

Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Immigration is undoubtedly challenging. We relocated to Florida due to the high level of crime in SA, leaving friends and family behind and having to adapt to a different culture. It took a couple of years to settle down before I was able to resume my career. At that point, I started ‘Rooms by Eve.‘
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Rooms by Eve – what should we know?
The field of interior design never stops growing and changing. I’m constantly learning and updating my knowledge to keep up with trends and innovations. With every project, I’m mindful of maximizing space and providing aesthetic as well as useful functionality. It’s important to ensure that every room and space within the home is optimized both for visual appeal and for usability.
Using technology such as 3D rendering to provide design and mood boards and my company motto is to make even the most difficult projects come together on time and on budget.
Whilst we accommodate all clients’ styles, my general look is clean, elegant sophisticated and uncluttered. Typically, my style is contemporary which is defined by simplicity, subtle sophistication, use of texture, and clean lines.
What were you like growing up?
Enjoyed dancing, music, love to attend the theater. Social outgoing personality
Definitely have the ‘traveling ‘ bug, traveled to Australia/Africa/Europe/USA/Israel and India, my next dream is to travel to the far east.
