Meet Erin Parekh

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Parekh, Holistic Health Coach.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Erin. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Sounds good! My journey is multifaceted and beautifully messy. But if had to summarize, I’d say there were three main factors that truly transformed me into the woman I am today:

  1. Growing up, I was always in the kitchen alongside my mom. She made the process of cooking and connecting with food just as important as the main mealtime event. It wasn’t anything fancy either. I grew up in the Midwest, so we definitely had our fair share of casseroles (always with a veggie side!). Food and family went hand in hand and mealtime was special — it was about nourishing both the body and the soul.
  2. You’d think with such a wonderful upbringing around food I’d have a pretty solid relationship with it, but the stress of college and a few other life events led to struggles with both anorexia and binge eating disorder. The two compounded on each other and led to extremely low self-esteem, a lacking social network, a 50-pound weight fluctuation, and constant comparison with others. Simply put, I had no idea who I was or where I was going in life. I was lost.
  3. But after college (and therapy), I moved to New York City for grad school and a career in the bluechip art world. There, I was forced to be with myself 100% as I knew absolutely no one. To pass time while not studying or working, I slowly started cooking again — channeling my childhood and the positive relationship I used to have with food. I began experimenting, trying new foods, and simply having fun. In time, I learned how food could be both delicious and healing. And I saw first hand how food can have a positive impact from the inside and out. I became more confident, I started feeling like “myself” again, and I was gradually getting back to my set weight too.

That’s when I became a sponge for all things health and nutrition, eventually leading to where I am today. A woman who is comfortable with her own body, voice, and intuition.

Please tell us more about what you do, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I help women learn to simply love real food again and ditch the diet mentality once and for all. My clients learn how to honor their intuition and understand what their bodies need, crave, and deserve.

My coaching practice is twofold, offering personalized plans to support my clients’ unique biology while also encouraging healthy, buildable lifestyle habits through holistic wellness coaching. Because being truly well starts with, but goes much deeper than food.

In addition to coaching, I offer private + group cooking classes and a 5-day seasonal reFRESH program.

Online — my blog is devoted to Living Well, Simply with actionable lifestyle posts and easy, delicious, nutrient-dense recipes.

Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I honestly don’t believe in luck, but I do believe in manifesting and trusting that the universe will bring all that you need when you ask from the heart and are ready to receive.
