Has it been a smooth road?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Anything worthwhile in life takes time and dedication. Any entrepreneur will tell you it’s not easy. Managing your own time, being discouraged while waiting for results. It’s all apart of the business.
When I was acting, and hosting I built tough skin. Constantly hearing No can really wear on you. I’m so thankful for every struggle and no. Because of those struggles I’ve learned not to take things personally, to work hard and always follow thru. It’s those struggles that have and continue to shape me.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into The ReKoop story. Tell us more about the business.
I really started to pay attention to my health after I got medically induced lupus from taking medication from a dermatologist. It took three years to get the Lupus out of my system.
I learned the tough lesson that what you ingest and put on your skin sets the tone as to how you live your life. Now I watch everything I put in and on my body. It’s the reason I created @therekoop. The ReKoop is a modern day lifestyle shop that carries clean beauty, wellness, home, clothing, and jewelry.
It’s a collection of my favorite things, which is why I’m even more excited to share them with you. I wanted to offer high-quality products that wouldn’t be harmful to those using them. I’m really proud of our product offerings. We really care about our customers, their needs and their health. I feel so blessed to not only be able to share products from amazing small companies but also to show others that as consumers they hold the power.
If more consumers demand clean beauty brands, then manufacturers will have to listen. Our health is our wealth. It’s time we take control of it.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career has been seeing the impact that Brendon’s Foundation has had in the lives of our youth. When we first created Brendon’s Duffels of Hope we wanted to help foster children, since our creation we have not only helped foster children but refugees, homeless youth and families.
Our biggest mission is to just help those in need. We have been able to provide over 2k Brendon’s Duffels of Hope so far, and plan on tripling that number. My brother was a man with a big heart. He never met a stranger and was always ready to help those in need. It gives me great pride to continue his commitment to those that are less fortunate.
