Meet Emily Basford of SolFreshLife in Brickell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Basford.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
In 2017, I took an exciting and scary leap to follow my intuition and travel to northern India for three months. I studied yoga and meditation in an ashram in Rishikesh, India. We learned about philosophy, healthy living habits, self-care practices, chanting, physical yoga (asana), and meditation. I was surrounded by music, movement, and meditation which naturally opened an opportunity to discover Tibetan Singing Bowls. I purchased a set of bowls and began hosting meditation sessions for my friends. Their experiences were amazing and I was inspired to share this tool with more individuals. Back home in Miami, I brought a Tibetan Singing Bowl with me everywhere I traveled to offer sessions for my friends and family. People who you would least expect described some of the biggest impacts. One man, who has never meditated in his life experienced a deep state of meditation and peace. Another person experienced relief after years of chronic back pain. The stories and experiences motivated me to share with others and continue to enhance my love of providing personalized attention in private sessions!

I started introducing meditation to corporate wellness programs as a way to combine my blended passion for public speaking and mindfulness. Business leaders who experience the challenges of stress and years into their career begin to notice that self-care has been neglected. I facilitate wellness training on the topics of stress management, mindfulness, and movement.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
I often experience my own stresses in growing personally and professionally. This is a simple reminder that I am human and to practice what I teach others. Self-care has played a huge sense of support in my own life, and I practice a daily morning and evening ritual of gentle stretching and breathing. This is an important exercise to slow down, check-in with my health, and express gratitude for the journey.

SolFreshLife – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
I offer private sessions to feature the elements of yoga and sound healing. My sessions provide a relaxing experience for the mind and body. Past clients have experienced feeling grounded, calm, peaceful, relaxed, connected, and clarity as well as decreased pain and anxiety.

My corporate wellness sessions are designed for organizations looking to boost employee productivity, happiness, and engagement. Programs range from formal wellness education seminars to unique sound bath experiences.

As a wellness provider, I am grateful to be able to create a sacred space for clients to relax and connect to their natural balance.

After receiving a formal education in Economics and International Business, I returned to school to sharpen my knowledge of health and wellness. Combining my training through the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, NASM-certified personal trainers, and a 500-hr RYT yoga and meditation training in India — I bring my extensive background of discipline and experience into my work and personalize it to each client’s individual needs.
