Meet Elizabeth Montavon

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elizabeth Montavon.

Elizabeth, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
Since 2017, I’ve been helping coaches, consultants and creative business owners tell their brand’s unique story through web design and social media. My career path has always remained a visual one — with past lives as a director of marketing, a visual merchandising manager and brand blogger. After roles as a brick-and-mortar salon owner and business consultant, I noticed a gap in marketing solutions for small businesses that I had to address. Most modern marketing agencies offer too many services, specialize in none, and neglect to fully utilize what is arguably the future of our industry: digital neuromarketing. I realized that my passion for designing strategic, effective, digital solutions could not go on unfulfilled — fast forward to today.

After doing my homework, including getting professional certifications in both the Myers Briggs Type Indicator and Social Marketing and receiving my credentials as a Wix Expert, I took the plunge into solopreneurship and founded my micro-agency, offering psychology-based services in web design and social media management. The beauty of working through a digital medium is that I have access to a global talent pool and I have not restricted to hiring in one geographic point. This means that, depending on the client’s needs, I’ve been able to put together a team of specialists who can contribute their unique skill set to a project when needed. Everyone gets to do what they love and the client benefits from the entire collaboration.

Starting my own agency has made it possible to pursue my other career — that of the professional water skier. As a 9-time National Champion, U.S. Open Champion and Pan Am Champion, there was not a chance I could stomach retiring from my sport to take up a 9-to-5. It’s taken some trial and error to figure out the balance between both of my careers, but I would always rather try to do too much rather than wonder “what if?”

Has it been a smooth road?
Definitely not. Anyone who has taken the entrepreneurial road knows that it’s a high-risk game, but with high risk comes high reward. The beginning was the hardest — simply because almost every aspect of what I was doing was new to me in a way. While my agency isn’t my first business, it’s my first marketing venture so there was still a large learning curve ahead of me. However, there was so much gratification in persevering through the struggle and knowing that I was capable of “figuring it out.” Once I learned to fall in love with the process of building my systems, consistent client communication, and constantly feeding my creative nature, I feel my business started to flow. In both my careers as a marketing professional and athlete, I think that one of the most heartbreaking parts of the journey is when people start saying “Who do you think you are?” — it can definitely rock your world. But my advice around that is to remember that trash-talk starts when it’s evident you’re an up-and-coming force of nature, so stay the course.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with The Elizabeth Montavon Agency – tell our readers more, for example, what you’re most proud of and what sets you apart from others.
The Elizabeth Montavon Agency is a powerhouse of social media, web design and PR experts. We handle your social strategy, content creation, and graphic design in-house. We also manage influencer relationships on your behalf, to get your products and services into the hands of industry tastemakers — who’ll share it with their highly engaged audiences in an authentic way.

It can be really tempting as a business owner to slap up a Facebook page and call it a day, but make no mistake — social media management and web design is a full-time job. Working with us means that you’ll have all the benefits of being on social media, with the freedom to run your business like a boss.

I’m most proud of the fact that we provide business owners with a modern luxury: time offline. When we handle a client’s social media and/or web design, they get more time to be with their family, travel, pursue their passion projects, work on their fitness… the list is endless. We all have a finite amount of time available to us, and our goal is to free up our clients’ time so they can do more of what they love.

If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
I would have started sooner and networked more from the beginning. Every day, you put off starting something is incubation time for growth that has been missed.
