My name is Dora Salazar. I am an Aesthetician and Beauty Professional. My passion for skincare emerged from my own skin struggles, having suffered from eczema and very sensitive skin from an early age. The challenge of such skin conditions awakened my curiosity to study the skin at a deeper level. I wanted to know the “why’s”, look for more satisfying answers. Find relief. The search for the root of the problem led me to become a Skincare professional. Being able to control my eczema and manage my skin sensitivity had a profound impact on my life and urged me to pursue the higher purpose of helping others also achieve real, visible changes in their skin.
My professional journey in aesthetics began 23 years ago, in the dermatological field, working with renowned dermatologists for over a decade, a treasurable time, when I learned extensively about skin functionality and many different skin conditions. At that time, there weren’t that many Skin Studios. It was mainly salons where the aesthetician rented a room or the aestheticians that worked at doctors’ offices. Skincare was perceived either as a luxury more on the pampering side, or the other extreme were if you suffered from a skin condition, you would go see a dermatologist. There was nothing in between.
Education on the importance of regular skincare was very poor. Sunscreen was not popular by any means. I wanted to change all that. I wanted to educate people on good skin habits, show them the benefits of regular skin treatments and good skincare ingredients, offer them high-performance services with innovative techniques and modalities in a welcoming, cozy ambiance. And so, my dream became a reality when I opened my Skin Studio 13 years ago.
My business has been part of me all these years. It has given me the opportunity to grow as a person and as a professional, learn and advance with the rapid evolution of the beauty industry. I am so glad that skincare today is considered an essential part of self-care and people are realizing that having healthy skin is a beautiful and valuable asset. My philosophy in skincare is to treat the skin progressively not aggressively, a functional approach that respects the healing mechanisms of the skin creating balance by means of scientific and holistic methods to achieve a complete skin transformation.
After moving to Miami a few years ago, I decided to also move my business. Dora Salazar Skin Studio is now located in Miami in the Design District. I am fully committed to providing my clients with effective skin solutions, carefully selected skincare products and professional advice that can have a positive impact in their skin, their life and their wellbeing.

We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Overall it has been a great experience. Of course, I’ve had ups and downs like all businesses. This industry, in particular, is forever changing and one must adapt very quickly to stay abreast of new methods and technologies but that is what also makes it so fascinating.
We’d love to hear more about your business.
I am an Aesthetician. However, I am also licensed in other beauty specialties like massage therapy and laser hair removal. At the beginning of my career, I used to work on all those other services, but as I grew as a professional, I continue to specialize more and more in advanced skin treatments until I completely dedicated my practice to that specialty.
What I am most proud of as a company is the relationship that I have with my customers. They are like family to me and their loyalty and trust mean the world to me and have a big impact in my commitment to offering them the best. My services are very different from the typical facial. It all begins with a thorough consultation with questions more related to lifestyle habits than to the skin. That gives me a lot of information about the skin. Then I evaluate the skin holistically and it reveals its own story. Treatment is then tailored according to the individual needs. No two treatments are alike, even on the same person, because the skin changes all the time.
So, what’s next? Any big plans?
I recently opened my online Skin and Wellness Boutique FACEMOVES.COM, which is an extension of my Studio. It was created as a response to the needs of my clients and people in general that wanted to get the products that I sell in my practice but lived out of Miami.
My plans for the future are to continue with my Studio, continue to grow my online store and to offer the customers space where they can find wonderful products, educational videos and advice at the same time. As a Skin educator, I would like to offer online courses on more advanced skincare and self-massage. Hopefully, very soon.
