Today we’d like to introduce you to Diogo Trevisan.
Diogo, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I was born and raised in a small town in Brazil called Piracicaba. I got my doctorate degree in physical therapy there, and in 2010 came to Miami to pursue my dream of being the best physical therapist in the world. In Feb. of 2011, I was already working on a clinical setting with physical therapy in orthopedics (as a technician), and finally in 2016 I finished the credentialing process and got my PT license. In 2019, I started the doctorate program at Utica College. Also in 2019, I started opening my physical therapy practice, which is a franchise of Physical Therapy Now. I have two boys and I’m married to my beautiful wife, Stephanie, which is also my business partner. We also own investment properties and e-commerce businesses.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It has NOT been a smooth road, lol. When I left Brazil, my great parents were old, and I left with a horrible uncertainty of whether or not I’d ever see them again. I came to US as a tourist, and the process of getting a VISA and becoming a citizen could take a decade. I also left my three sisters, two of which were 8 and 10 years old and were extremely attached to me. The beginning of my journey in the United States wasn’t easy either for I didn’t speak English (or Spanish), didn’t have any money or friends. My mom was already living here so her and her husband, at that time, helped me tremendously, however, emotionally I felt totally disconnected. After meeting my wife and getting the first visa that allowed me to work and get paid things started getting better and I started feeling more situated. Nowadays, Miami is home, no doubt, but I still miss the simple life in the farm where I was raised.
We’d love to hear more about your practice.
My specialty is physical therapy in orthopedics! I’m obsessed with what I do. I decided to open my practice to deliver excellence. I’ve worked for many companies that don’t deliver the “whole package” to their patients. Physical therapy to me is more than just manual therapy and exercises. It has to do with helping the patients to be the best version of themselves, physically, mentally and spiritually. The World Health Organization (WHO) recognizes mental and emotional health as a major concern in these modern days, however, healthcare professionals don’t seem to be giving it enough attention.
What sets my practice apart from most practices is that although I’m obsessed with Orthopedics, I’m also obsessed with healing in all its forms, and personally think that mental health, wellbeing and positivity mean more than half of the healing process. I desire, more than anything else, to make the world a better place.
Has luck played a meaningful role in your life and business?
I am the luckiest person in the world! Lol. No doubt!!! I believe in the law of attraction, and I think that regardless of quantum physics and mysticism, positivity can bring you all sorts of wealth and good luck. Good luck means making the right decisions, it means never giving up, it means going for what you TRULY want in life – so good luck and positivity go hand in hand.
