Today we’d like to introduce you to Diana Perez.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Diana. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
I always had a passion for the creative and to have my own business but was never confident enough to do it. Either because I was too focused on my accent or my lack of confidence really. It wasn’t until I hit my rock bottom and went through post-partum depression that made me ignite the fire I had inside me to follow my passions.
It started simple, find yoga, the meditation, then Reiki. Next, I found my love for art again and decided to enter local art shows and see what would happen. Some went well, others not so much. But, I would never forget the first Art Walk I was part of and how I almost sold all my pieces that night. I was beyond excited and needless to say, it gave me the confirmation I needed to keep going.
From there and through much needed personal development, I start my journey. Went from art walks to doing some murals, then getting into social media management and now, I just do my thing. Whether it is managing a Facebook page, running ads or creating a piece for someone. I go with the flow and see where the journey will take me next.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It is no easy feat for sure. It has taken patience, tears and some anxiety attacks to even say I just go with the flow. But let me tell you, I would not change it for the world. I found my calling and I am not afraid (maybe a little) to follow it.
My biggest struggle has been dealing with my anxiety. I have had some really tough days where I thought all would be lost. I have my days where I had no clue if this was even working, but after the tears are shed and I listen to some “GaryVee” or Motivational Videos, I feel I can do better and pick myself back up. I can say, that mental health and confidence is much more important than I thought. Having zero confidence in me before and now being able to just say “screw it” has taken a long time to do.
I have gone from having enough clients to cover the bills to none and back to enough in a matter of weeks. My heart could not take it lol, but my soul knew I could. You just gotta remind yourself that you gotta keep on going.
Please tell us about Diana P: Embrace Greatness (And recent: The Creative Pencil).
Oh boy! Lol! I like to call myself a ‘multipotentialite’. I like many things and so, I tend to do many things from time to time. But at the core, I am a visual artist, storyteller and social media manager, that has been where the passion goes.
As a Social Media Manager, I work with solopreneurs like myself, start-ups and companies of any size to get their brand out there in the social media world. I create content, manage accounts, create ads, curate content and manage the account’s community to ensure messages and comments are being answered.
I have my own little blog and Instagram where I mainly share my art and story. My goal is to just share and hope that my story can help another lonely soul in this world. And through my sharing, I have found opportunities to grow in the business.
If you had to go back in time and start over, would you have done anything differently?
Probably work harder on personal development and grow my self-confidence. Also, stop asking for approval lol. I found myself doing things a certain way because I wanted the world’s approval. And while you do need someone to see and like your stuff, you just need to follow your heart so that your tribe can find you.
