Today we’d like to introduce you to David Uribe.
As an author, speaker, business owner, former barber instructor, and regional barber program director, David is a licensed barber and cosmetologist with several years of experience in the beauty industry. He possesses a degree in Business Administration and an ITEC certification that allows him to cut and style hair in more than 41 countries.
He has been featured in the Miami Herald newspaper as well as on NBC 6 and Telemundo 51. Additionally, he has won hair competitions and received awards for his contributions to the industry. David is the proud owner of two upscale barbershops, both of which have been voted “Best in Miami” by Men’s Hairstyle Trends. He takes pride in the stellar service and high level of professionalism that he and his team perform to local customers and celebrity clientele.
Prior to owning a barbershop, David oversaw the barber program on five campuses for Beauty Schools of America, managing 15 instructors and more than 350 students in day and night classes. He has also done platform work at major beauty trade shows across the country. Furthermore, David plans to soon unveil his own product line. Periodically, he speaks at schools and community events, motivating audiences to see the bigger picture and maximize their careers.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
Every successful individual has encounter obstacles, setbacks and failure to encounter success. In my case, it’s no different because as you start growing, you are faced with new challenges that require you to learn through trial and error. All of these situations coupled together were my best teachers. As a new barber at the age of 12, I was faced with different hair textures which made some haircuts harder than others. As an instructor at the age of 21, teaching in 2 languages to groups of 50+ people was difficult especially since most were older than me. As a regional director, managing 350+ students and 14 instructors in different campuses becomes overwhelming because of the great responsibility. Lastly, being a business owner, I am responsible for my employees’ success because their families depend on their income and all of the obligation for success falls on me. With that said, I have to train them constantly, take them to seminars so that we can make sure that we are performing to current industry standards.

Prestigious Image Barbershop and Spa is an upscale barbershop located in the heart of both Coral Gables and Miami Beach, FL. With a relaxing atmosphere, clients can get pampered with any of our services such as haircuts, hot-towel / hot-lather shaves, beard trims, hair dye and more! All of our services include a complimentary beverage, shampoo and a machine shoulder massage.
We take pride for maintaining our facilities clean and sanitary as required by the state. Our barbers have won hair competitions and/or have been instructors at barber schools or have represented major brand companies at trade shows. Our employees can perform traditional to modern haircuts by using the clippers, shears or straight-razor.
What were you like growing up?
Growing up, I was an outgoing individual, I was never scared to attempt something and fail. This is a trait that has accompanied me from an early age- I do not give up, I persevere. This attribute allows me to push till I succeed and is one of my greatest attributes. This along with self-confidence define who I am as an individual.
