Meet Crystal Vazquez

Today we’d like to introduce you to Crystal Vazquez.

Crystal, before we jump into specific questions, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
My obsession with photography started when I was very young. My maternal grandmother taught me the importance of photography. She would have boxes upon boxes of old photographs. We would go through them all of the time. Watching my grandmother’s face light up every time, watching the memories flood her as she looked at those photographs was pure magic to me. Plus, it was like I was able to go back to a time that I didn’t exist. My love for photography started there but the person who motivated me to follow my dreams of becoming a photographer was my son. I wanted him (and now my daughters) to follow their dreams and know that nothing is impossible if you work hard and never give up. The only way I felt I could do that was to lead by example.

Has it been a smooth road?
Juggling being a wife, mom of three (two of them being twins) and running my own business, hasn’t always been the smoothest road. It’s a lot of work for one person. In the very beginning, I didn’t get a lot of opportunities to show what I could creatively do and I wanted to give up so many times. But I really love what I photography plus my children are watching me so giving up will never be an option for me. Being at the place that I am in my career, I am so glad I never did.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
I am an Event, Portrait and Real Estate Photographer. I have a superpower and that is to freeze time. Whether it is to help capture the beauty of a home, show the details of your creativity or capture the love of what is most important to you. My job is to make you laugh when you may feel a little uncomfortable, to showcase your work to help you succeed at what you love, to tell your story, to create real and authentic relationships with my “clients,” and provide the best experience I can provide.

I believe there is such beauty in being able to freeze a moment in time. Being able to look back at an image and instantly be transported back to that memory, to feel what you felt and remember what was so important to you to capture. There is magic in what I do. I get to show the beauty of the world as I see it through my lens and I am so grateful to be able to meet the wonderful people that I have met and lived my dream every day.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
In the world of social media, I can definitely see the photography industry growing. Social media is a new way to showcase your work. It allows us to connect with so many people around the world. Whereas before, it was people having to go through great lengths to search for a photographer that fit their style. Now you can find someone whose work speaks to you, someone who you would want to tell your story with a click of a button. With social media and technology advancing, I can only see my industry growing and becoming easier to connect to more people.
