Today we’d like to introduce you to Corey G. Patterson.
Corey, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I am a former collegiate athlete with a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Johnson & Wales University and a graduate degree in accounting from Nova Southeastern University. After completing my graduate degree, I obtained my Certified Public Accountant’s license and began my journey as an accountant in the public sector.
I have been in practice for over six years, and I specialize in tax preparation and the implementation of tax strategy for individuals, businesses, partnerships, and trusts. The athlete that lives in me believes in integrity, performing at a high level, and teamwork. I bring these traits into all my client engagements. The one thing I would like you to know about me is that I am extremely passionate about helping those around me achieve the goals that they have set out for themselves.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
The biggest challenge that I have experienced has been to help small business owners understand that engaging an expert is an investment into their future success. People that get into business are amazing at delivering a great product or service, but have a challenge meeting the back-office needs of their business.
One of my favorite sayings is “I’m here to take the business out of your business so that you can focus on the things that you’re passionate about.”
Please tell us more about your work. What do you do? What do you specialize in? What sets you apart from competition?
I am a CPA that specializes in services ranging from tax preparation and tax strategy implementation to forensic accounting engagements and IRS representation.
I am known for having a positive attitude and taking a subject as complex as taxes and making it feel manageable and understandable. I am proud to be able to say with confidence that all my clients know that they are more than clients to me, and my clients know that I am genuinely invested into their success.
Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
I am fortunate. I have experienced a considerable amount of people pouring the best versions of themselves into me to get me to the point that I am at today. The person that has influenced me the most is my mother. My mother has always led by example, and in doing so, she instilled in me the fearlessness to lead from the front.
