Today we’d like to introduce you to Candace Storch.
Candace, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I have been making mixes since age 12 and have always considered myself to be ‘obsessed with music’, especially music with soul. Growing up in NY, my experiences were surrounded by hip hop, pop, and r&b. My dream was to become a singer/songwriter. While studying the musical credits of my favorite producers, and which hits they produced for some of my favorite singers (Mariah Carey, Brandy, Monica, Mary J Blige, etc..) I managed to create quite a cd collection. I went on to write for other artists and even put out my album. Fast forward, the dynamics of the music business changed. My father suggested I become a DJ and the rest is history!
Has it been a smooth road?
What has gotten me to this point has been rocky, but I am exactly where I’m supposed to be. I left NY and moved to Miami not knowing a single soul. All the years I spent in the recording studio learning music, timing, how levels are supposed to sound, studying how things are done, putting out records. going to music school, and expanding my musical taste buds, have given me the tools to apply as a DJ in this industry.

I am an open format DJ who specializes in high end, upscale events and urban music. I have set myself apart by tapping into a niche market of real estate events, as well as adding a touch of Caribbean flavor when appropriate. I do my best to give the customer what they want. My company’s mission statement is Candace Storch is a DJ who is extremely passionate about the musical experience she provides. Her goal is for everyone to leave an event she plays feeling elated with a sense of nostalgia.

Is our city a good place to do what you do?
Our city of Miami has been nothing short of amazing for me on my journey! Its a melting pot of multi-cultural people from all over the world all wanting to be a part of the arts, architecture, events and excitement! Yes, its a great place for someone like me, however, it has taken me time to build my business and reputation, which I am constantly doing. There are always going to be people who do what you do, so if someone is starting the goal would be to build your skills, network, and reputation, and make yourself and what you offer special, just like any other business.
