Today we’d like to introduce you to Camila Perez.
Camila started studying at an aesthetic school in Brazil in 2002. Since then she has taken several specialization courses in the field of aesthetics and massage, in 2012 she moved to the USA due to her husband’s work. In Florida, Camila decided to return to study in the USA and to graduate to be able to work regularly in the country. So in 2016, Camila started to work with massage assisting Brazilian clients who lived in the south of Florida.
In the same year, her daughter Lais Perez, who had already shown interest in her mother’s practice and studies since Brazil, also started to study to get a degree, and in 2016 they started working together. They did specializations (mother and daughter) together in Brazil. They ended up creating their method, the MHD (High Definition Massage), that combines lymphatic drainage movements with modeling massage in the same session.
In the year 2018, after meeting a Victoria Secrets model in Miami, Devon Windsor, they went to New York to work with some models before the show, such as Romee Strijd, Olivia Culpo, Behati Prinsloo, and others. “In November 2018, we traveled for the first time to NYC for work, for a week, and it was a success. We served more than 16 models, and all were in love with the instant results caused by the treatment, posted our work on Instagram, and this gave us the necessary visibility to enter the American market that until then did not know this technique”. So they decided to open a company where Camila, her husband and daughter work today. In this period, the visualization of the work began to increase and continued to grow in digital media.
In April 2019, they decided it was time to explore other locations and went to work for a week in Los Angeles, California. The week was a success, and they attended a lot of clients. Among them, several famous ones like supermodel Bella Hadid, Rocky Barnes, and Kim Kardashian, says Camila: “we were finishing a working day when I got a call from a person presenting as an assistant from Kim, asking me if we could make a call to her “house call” and at the time I thought it might be a prank call, but then she started giving details of the time and place of service and then it happened. After this service, we began to keep in touch, and Kim Kardashian ended upcoming for a new service, but this time at the SPA, where we work in Beverly Hills.
During this trip to Los Angeles, they were invited to participate in three TV shows, “Entertainment Tonight,” “The Doctors Show,” on CBS, and a program on the German TV pro7 channel. After this significant step, the brand of the company called “MOVA By Camila Perez” began to take shape and which already has not only services but also the launch of its first product, the natural and organic tea called “Lustrate Tea”, which helps in the detoxification work of the lymphatic system. With all these events and the sudden increase in new clients still in 2019, they decided that they needed to grow by hiring and training new masseuses so that the method could lead to a higher number of clients and thus expand their business.
Today the company already has five new masseuses with Lais Perez as head of the space in Beverly Hills – CA and Camila Perez in Miami (FL). They also travel to NYC every month for seven days to see their clients, where they intend to open their new space soon. Today the company “MOVA By Camila Perez” has an exclusive contract for events linked to the French brand “Clarins”, in which Camila Perez has become an ambassador, opening up opportunities for bigger jumps that are yet to come. “I’m so glad to be part of the dissemination of Lymphatic Drainage technique on the US. I genuinely believe in the benefits and how a clean body is a healthier body.”
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being a mom of three, almost 40 years old and not fluent in English, it was definitely a challenge.
We’d love to hear more about your work and what you are currently focused on. What else should we know?
We are a family company specialized in Lymphatic Drainage and Body Contour. I’m Eighteen years of experience, Brazil is a country that has excellent studies in this field, so I bring the knowledge from there.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
Every time that a client says that they feel better, they can notice a difference in how they feel and look, that’s my best moment!
