Burtay, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
When I was about 10 years old, I was fascinated by computers and started programming by buying magazines with Basic game code (that’s the way they used to distribute free games back then) and typing them in by hand on my Commodore 64. My favorite past time was changing the behavior of these games. I played around with various programming languages throughout the years and after graduating from University of Colorado with a Finance and IT major, I knew that the field I wanted to be in was software development.
After serving as a software developer and software architect at companies such as First Tennessee Bank, Rockwell FirstPoint Contact, Tech Mahindra, Avanade (Accenture and Microsoft owned global consultancy), I founded ACAP in 2005 to provide top-tier Fortune 2000 type of IT consulting services to startups, small and mid-size businesses throughout US and Canada.
Fast forward to 2017, today we have a staff of over 65 resources across multiple offices in USA and India, we have customers who have been with us for over 10 years and we are experiencing significant growth in our services revenues year over year. Our customers include large household names such as McKinsey and Company, Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, Cities of Lauderhill and Naples, Mercedes Benz Tech Group, The Fresh Market, Ernst & Young as well as many startups and small businesses. We excel at complex, mission-critical software solutions delivery for Server, Web and Mobile line of business applications as well as 24/7 maintenance.
My philosophy for myself and my team members is to ask every day the important question of how we can best serve our customers today. Our success entirely depends on the achievements we are able to attain for our customers.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
No, I would not say a smooth road. At various times we experienced significant growing pains or annoying setbacks.
