Today we’d like to introduce you to Brandon Beasley.
Brandon, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
My journey started in 2013, towards the end of my first year as a music teacher with Miami-Dade County Public Schools. I had grown to become a huge proponent of music and music education, but I knew then that my passion for music would fade if I were to confine it to the classroom experience. I had been doing music all my life, but above all things, I wanted to get into the industry of live music entertainment. From then on, I set out to pursue that venture. I graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music from Bethune-Cookman University, specializing in euphonium.
Well, I severely underestimated what that transition would look like. For the first time since learning to play an instrument, I simply wasn’t very good when measuring up to those around me. After about two years of practice and study to become more skilled on the instrument, I decided to pick up another instrument to make myself more marketable in the live music scene. One could argue that taking on a responsibility such as learning another instrument as being regressive, but competition between musicians in south Florida is stiff and being able to double on another instrument can lead to a lot of phone calls and potential clients. That instrument being the trombone, another instrument I was familiar with but hadn’t studied particularly. Fortunately, this theory proved to be true as building clientele over the next three years opened up for me. Ultimately, in April 2018, I took the step of starting my own entertainment company that provides live music for special events, FOCACE.
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has been everything I expected it to be. There are peaks as well as valleys. It seems that the world has taken on more of a liking and appreciation for live music, which drives demand as much as it does competition. Since learning that, there was much note taking and delving into being strategic in capturing the ear of potential clients.

FOCACE is a live music entertainment company that present clients with a wide range of musical offerings to suit their unique needs, We specialize in weddings/special events, providing an experience tailored to your unique preference for an event experience you’ll never forget.
What moment in your career do you look back most fondly on?
The proudest moment of my career was the day I launched the company in April of 2018. It was empowering yet liberating that after years of putting my true passion on reserve, I bet on myself by fully pursuing music. To this day, even though it’s been one of the most challenging things I’ve ever faced, the decision to do that is one that I would never take back.
