Today we’d like to introduce you to Bella Sophia.
Hi Bella, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, my name is Bella Sophia, I am a 21 year old Hispanic artist, & I am the founder of BELLASOULVISION. To pursue my artistic dreams as a model, photographer & creative director, I understood one thing; contemplation needs action. A literal sign was presented to me as I was walking down the path of enlightenment. I had to choose. I was given a glimpse of what life could stay as or what I could create for myself. I had a vision. I wanted to capture everything I was feeling and witnessing. I wanted to bring my artistic visions to life. I wanted to create projects and collaborate with artists. I needed to capture the beauty that the world has to offer. These wants and needs pushed me to think outside the box. I did not have to settle for less. I did not and do not want to be mediocre. I decided. I am an artist. I am on the path of expression. With my creations, I have opened up the portal necessary to receive all that was meant for me. On December 19th, 2020, my intuition reminded me of my ability to create and the power that I hold. On January 19th, 2021; I created BELLASOULVISION.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Obstacles are inevitable. However, I believe the biggest struggle anyone can face will always be themselves. Questioning themselves, maybe even doubting themselves. At the very beginning, I struggled trying to figure out what my focus would be. Would I showcase myself? Projects? Street art? Models? Nature? Fashion? Black & White Photos ONLY? I had no clue. I did not have a sense of directory. I loved all these ideas and wanted to share them all. But people told me I needed structure. That I had to choose one or the other. Going by the advice of other photographers, I thought that’s what I had to do. I thought an artist would grow if they put all their energy on only one thing. Yet, at the same time I caught myself wanting to aesthetically please everyone. To surpass this obstacle, I had to let go of the programmed beliefs I had tied to success. I had to overcome the insecurity of pleasing others before myself. I simply wanted to capture and create what I wanted. I began bringing my own visions to life. I moved freely and intuitively. I let my inner voice guide me artistically. Nobody had to approve or disapprove of my art. Once I made that shift, I found myself confidently directing photoshoots and projects.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am BELLASOULVISION. I am a model, photographer, & creative director. I specialize in capturing people’s essence. I enjoy all types of photography but honestly, my favorite type of shoots are when I am working and collaborating with other creatives/artists. I am known for bringing visions to life; as well as creating a comfortable and energetic atmosphere for everyone I have a photoshoot with. I can sense how people open up around me from the first 5 minutes we begin creating. I’ve worked with clients who label themselves as anxious or timid & I am proud of how their tension levels decrease because of the way I guide them throughout our photoshoot. Gracious feedback from my clients about how I directed the project and how pleased they are with the final outcome always makes me feel so proud.
I am here to leave my mark on this industry and demonstrate that women can thrive in anything they want to pursue, regardless of the statistics. According to my knowledge, the photography industry is male-dominated. Due to this, many women find it difficult to find a photographer they are fully comfortable with. That’s where I step in! As an empowered woman, I am always looking to empower & encourage other women by combining our artistic gifts. My urge to connect with everyone I work with is what sets me apart from others. Not only that, but I have a different outlook when it comes to my art. Authenticity is what drives BELLASOULVISION.
Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Oh wow, I could go on and on about what I love from our city! I would say the beach is one of my favorite places to be at! However, what I feel most grateful for in Miami is being surrounded by Hispanic & black communities. I’ve traveled up north and the vibe is completely different. I mean this in the most sincerest way; we have more flavor! Honestly, from the food to the music, to the way we talk, the way we walk, the way we dress; there is more culture here! Miami is a very diverse city and people are free to creatively express themselves. The city is full of art and creative minds! Wynwood is one of my favorite spots to get a feel of what I am describing!
On the other hand, what I would say I like least about our city is that people praise toxicity & hostility. Some individuals really take pride in being “toxic”, “crazy”, or “unfriendly” and it’s honestly so ridiculous to me. Many also have the attitude that they need to prove themselves as tough to demonstrate their power; when they actually just come off as insecure or ill-mannered. I feel like this attitude stems from lack of trust within our own society but it would be lovely for all of us to come together and grow as a collective.
