Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Chiwara.
Andrew, can you briefly walk us through your story – how you started and how you got to where you are today.
I began Cozartt’s Collection a year ago, in August of 2019, as a way to make some extra money while I was in school. I noticed the large female population that we have here at Florida A&M University and it seemed like it would be extremely profitable.
I got in contact with my close women friends and they helped me find the lashes and I launched with eight styles of lashes that I sold. Being a man in a mainly woman industry drew a great deal of attention and I became known as” the boy that sells lashes,” and eventually I got questions about what was next for me and my business. During the summer of 2020, I began researching lace wigs and the different components that made them good or bad, then I added wigs to my collection. A website soon followed as well as getting my business licensed in the state of Florida. I cant truly say that I not only enjoy what I do, but I am proud of the growth that Cozartt’s Collection has seen
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Struggles and obstacles that I have faced have been finding ways to gain exposure, as well as finding new products that are in style that people will buy. I have to stay up to date with trends of woman and what is in fashion, especially now that I sell clothes because I can see something and think it will sell but by the time I get it, it can have already gone out of style.
Alright – so let’s talk business. Tell us about Cozartt’s Collection – what should we know?
Cozartt’s Collection LLC is a Boutique that I began in my residence hall at Florida A&M University in August of 2019. I sell mink lashes, lace wigs, silk durags and bonnets, clothing, as well as hair accessories. I am known for being a boy that not only sells these products but is knowledgeable in what I am selling and am able to answer most if not all questions that I get about my products. I pride ourselves in providing the finest shopping experience for our shoppers through competitive pricing, superior customer service, and top quality products. What sets me apart is my exceptional customer service as well as high-quality products.
Is there a characteristic or quality that you feel is essential to success?
A quality that I feel have been most important to my success have my propensity to avoid complacency, I am always asking for feedback from my frequent customers and finding new ways to expand and improve my business.
