Meet Andre’ Sartin of Act2productions in Northdade/Broward

Today we’d like to introduce you to Andre’ Sartin.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Andre’. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
From childhood, I have dreamed of making films that only entertained with a life-changing message. This creative approach was given a platform to me and I excel when I was delegated the opportunity write plays for the church. In 1996, to become Director over the Drama Department of a very large and progressive church that I attended. It was at that point that a fire was ignited in me to fulfill my dreams. Instead of the traditional church play, I created a team that blended the conservative and the contemporary to make a lasting impact on our audience.

In approximately 2003, my vision was expanded through the creation of Act 2 Stage Productions. Through our organization, we have traveled throughout Florida as we deliver life-changing messages with dramatic stage plays and film. Through the Arts, we have been able to promote the power of Love and family. It is our hope that as we continue to expand our dramatic works, we will be able to enhance our city, our country and ultimately, the world.

I’ve have had the pleasure to attend one of N.Y. film academy summer programs and I listen to other writers and photographers tell their story but became overwhelm by their attraction to my stories of faith, how and Love. Which at first, I though they didn’t want to hear it. Who know! I find that laughing at yourself and then give my audience good answers that offer them hope works well for me.

Has it been a smooth road?
It has not always been a smooth road. Finding advertiser and sponsors is not easy. It even tougher working a full-time job and looking them in your spare time. No, there is no spare time because you have rehearsals and you need time to promote. Without upfront money, you can’t pay anyone. So where does the money come from. I’ll tell you in order. First I’ll work lots of overtime (This help get the project started), A few advertisers this gives it some air. Tickets sell sometimes are slow and the actors and staff must be paid. Loans are us. I do what I have to do to keep the ball rolling. I believe God has called me to be a great storyteller, but sometimes the struggles are real. Keeping the right attitude is a key for me.

My hold up on film is finding a team of like-minded people to stay strong and see the light at the end. As a Christian, I say “Just walk in the light”.

Please tell us about Act2productions.LLC.
My specialty is my vision, I see a story from the end and build the story backward. The funny thing is it’s like 3d in my head, I see everything. The journey of the story is a great thing. O man it’s like being on a trip in the mind and you can get off until it’s on stage or film. When I build a flow chart so that my team can come for a ride, they are usually pumped. What a rush!! We once did a stage play that had that Disney feel to it. The people want to go to places that Jesus wanted to go for his birthday. SO we went from stage to screen (green screen you can fly) and back to stage. Five countries later they got it. What a journey. Then there is one that didn’t do so well about a soldier who returns to the states fighting for his life. Lupus had got the best of his and he had to fight or die. He was one of the courageous men the had the pleasure of knowing. Isaiah S Williams Jr. Role model, a mans man and leader. Reason why I’m still here.

How do you think the industry will change over the next decade?
My faith-based or family base storytelling industries is growing little. It’s like having a book on the shelf that you pull when you need it. You may know it has some of the things that you need in it. So the time you read it until its too late. 5 to 10 years of family and faith stories will make a comeback.
