Meet Alex (DJ LX) of El Calor De Miami, The Heatmix Life

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alex (DJ LX).

Alex, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
A few years ago my blogger and host Mellystarz brought up an idea of having a radio station or a podcast on a consistent basis with my DJ experience. During the time I was far from thinking about it focused on other opportunities. In 2018 I started an online store to promote and show the love of the DJ community spending time on social media marketing. Two months later I stopped the process of the store because my time was dedicated to djing. It wasn’t until March of 2019 I discovered a podcast that would change my life in the DJ scene.

DJ Refresh, a highly-skilled DJ & Remixer from San Diego, and host of the pandulcelife would inspire me through his energetic and creative mixes among with his guest DJs to start one of the hottest podcasts called El Calor De Miami, The Heatmix Life. Before we started we were thinking of what our logo would be and how would we even get started with social media. Then I remembered about the online store I once had so we recovered the social media and modified the name. On April 26, 2019, we launched our very first episode and since then we have been releasing episodes every week featuring special guest DJs and artists from around the country.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
From the point of start, everything was already set up until we had our first obstacle which was inviting guest DJs. As the weeks passed, we were realizing the exposure we were getting so the process has been going smoothly due to the popularity of the rankings in the mix cloud charts.

My hosting experience was also another challenge to overcome because since I have never done anything lie this before, I had to quickly adjust and find my voice to attract our listeners by making them excited about it. Because I personally don’t have a studio to record voices, we have a sponsor with Rift-Multimedia to assist us through the quality of the audio. There are situations where we can not get together throughout the week so we would come with alternatives to solve the issue of hosting.

We’d love to hear more about your work.
The podcast is about mainly introducing the newest Latin tracks but we also introduce other genres to creatively mix with. We consider this to be open format from Latin tracks to reggae, afrobeat, EDM, house, rap/hip hop, baile funk and more. We also spread the love of music and the appreciation of DJs and artists who would like exposure through us.

Any shoutouts? Who else deserves credit in this story – who has played a meaningful role?
The podcast would not be possible without Melly Starz, LV productions and Rift-Multimedia. They play the most meaningful role to make the show possible every week from hosting, finalizing the mixes, to recording video skits. I like to credit all the special guest artists and djs for coming on the show as well as all of our listeners and fans. Finally I like to credit my closest friends and family for all the support from the very beginning starting from my childhood all the way to today. They taught me to plan, work hard, and always follow your passions to pursue the true meaning of happiness.
