Meet Alejandro Gonzalez of Kryogenifex in Wynwood

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandro Gonzalez.

Thanks for sharing your story with us Alejandro. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
In 1998, originally started off with our Miami based, family-owned industrial gas distribution company which included cryogenic gases more importantly liquid nitrogen and saw there could be potential applications for creating atmospheric effects.

Eventually started to dabble with the experimentation of creating plumes of fog with liquid nitrogen. I already was going out to nightclubs and had a great relationship with my friends who were throwing the parties so it was the perfect segway. We started off with Groove Jet, Shadow Lounge and Liquid in Miami then Twilo in NYC then Crobars around the US, LA, Las Vegas then overseas to Spain, Singapore the list goes on. You said you wanted this to be brief. We created an industry and a brand that still lives today and many have mimicked.

Has it been a smooth road?
Noooo, definitely hasn’t been a smooth road and glad you asked. Unfortunately, one of the things you experience when you’re a pioneer and tread into unchartered waters is you don’t know the pitfalls that may be out there so you march forward until you encounter an obstacle that may present itself. Well, that obstacle was the fire departments of every municipality that existed from Miami to NYC to LA to Las Vegas. They starting to see our systems popping up in each one of their cities and had no idea what the hell was going on.

We never had any complaints or experienced anything remotely harmful from our system installations but this wasn’t the perspective of the local fire departments. Slowly within a year’s time, all of the installations we had installed were shut down and our reputation from Miami to NYC to Vegas was smeared. We had no control. The fire departments didn’t even have guidelines, therefore, they didn’t allow for our kryo(r) systems to be installed. This lasted for 3 years working with the fire departments in Las Vegas to begin installing there, 5 years in Miami Beach after multiple appeals with the city to resume operations as normal. Let’s just say this, the only job we had in Miami was doing the player intros for the Miami Heat, almost closed our doors and lost millions.

So, as you know, we’re impressed with Kryogenifex Inc. – tell our readers more, for example what you’re most proud of as a company and what sets you apart from others.
Kryogenifex spawned from an industrial gas company which was eventually sold in 2005, therefore, we had two companies operating separately at the same time. I ran Kryogenifex specialized in creating atmospheric cryogenic systems for nightclubs, Kryo(r) systems, and other entertainment applications. Eventually, we moved into the culinary, restaurant and hospitality industry with our KryoKitchen line and now venturing into other markets.

Our specialty has been the proprietary patented kryo(r) systems we’ve installed throughout the world.

I’m most proud of the ability to have pioneered an industry, brand, and longevity through tough times. The capacity to have created a business, proprietary products, and most importantly a team that most companies which they had. We stand apart because we created an industry that exists now and have been able to maintain the quality of product and service necessary to sustain in this market.

Let’s touch on your thoughts about our city – what do you like the most and least?
The city is growing and has a huge amount of potential, the sky is the limit.

The city ebbs and flows, consistent growth is slow but that may be changing.
