Today we’d like to introduce you to Alejandra Carvajal.
Alejandra, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I was born and raised in Cali, Colombia and at the age of 18 after graduating from high school I moved to Miami with a dream of building a life in this amazing city. The first couple of years I was basically struggling to be able to stay, but with God by my side finally I had the opportunity not only to stay but to attend the Fashion Merchandising program at the Miami International University of Art & Design which was my dream since I was 15. While attending school, I started working as a hostess on a new local restaurant in the Brickell area where I fell in love with the hospitality industry. After some time working there, I was promoted to become an Event Coordinator.
The company grew and so the work and opportunities. I happily worked as an Event Coordinator for over ten years and helping guests to plan their special celebrations became my passion. I want to school for Fashion but ended up being an Event Planner, I do not know how all this happened but I am very grateful and happy it did. Five years ago with the help of my bosses who were also my mentors, I had the opportunity to open my own company, Always Be Creative Flowers and Events. Today I work independently and happy living day by day and enjoying the process as I firmly believe that happiness is a journey not a destination 🙂
Great, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Moving to a different country so young far away from my family and friends was not easy but looking back, I strongly feel that it was worth it. I had to work hard for the things that I wanted, I had to be persistent and I had to change my chip completely to understand that I was not at home anymore and that everything that I wanted to achieve in this country depended only on myself and how committed I was to build my life here.
From the moment I moved to the United States, I was completely independent so challenges and struggles were the order of the day. Limited funds, no transportation, underpaid jobs are some of the things that I experienced but each one of these helped me to become a strong, positive and humble person which I am very grateful for today.

At Always Be Creative Flowers and Events we work with passion to make our clients dream event a reality by providing them with the best customer service and attention to detail at all planning stages. Our main goal is to offer our clients an unforgettable event by focusing and delivering a memorable, timeless and perfectly executed experience.
Do you look back particularly fondly on any memories from childhood?
My favorite memory from childhood is a family vacation to Providence Island in Colombia. It was an amazing trip that we did with my entire family. The memories from that trip will ever remain in my heart, mind and soul.
