Meet Aimee Cabo and Boris Nikolov of IMIC Research in Palmetto Bay

Today we’d like to introduce you to Aimee Cabo and Boris Nikolov.

Aimee and Boris, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I and my husband Boris started the company in 2007 offering consulting services for clinics and medical offices. Then, in 2009, developed a small research clinic in Little Havana. Little by little providing excellent quality services to the Pharmaceutical companies we had contracts with, we expanded to two buildings clinic in Palmetto Bay. Our medical background – I am a nurse and my husband – a physician, helps us greatly in our work. Now I am the President of the company and Boris – CEO. Now we have participated in 76 clinical research programs for new medications for treatment of Alzheimer’s disease, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative colitis, Liver Cirrhosis, Diabetes, Asthma, COPD, Osteoarthritis, among others.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Managing your own business hasn’t been always smooth, we had Ups and Downs. There were moments when we didn’t have enough cash flow to cover current expenses but with help of family members and loans, we always managed to overcome the challenges.

IMIC Research – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We operate a medical research clinic specializing in Psychiatry under the direction of board-certified psychiatrist Evelyn Lopez-Brignoni, MD; Family Medicine under the direction of board-certified physician Ramon Leon MD; Gastroenterology under the direction of board-certified Gastroenterologist Miguel Rodriguez, MD. We offer participation in research programs, at no cost to patients, as they are sponsored by the pharmaceutical companies. This way eligible patients can have access to new advanced medications for their condition, much early than available commercially. We are proud of our track record – successful completion of more than 70 research studies. We have participated in the development of various medications, which are now accessible – such as inhaled insulin. Being on the front edge of medicine – where new medications are validated and developed is inspiring. Currently, we have openings in programs for Liver Cirrhosis, Crohn’s disease, Ulcerative colitis, Diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
Success is when you are able to help others, after having taken care of your family. Not worrying every day about paying bills. Having started as an orphan, I can proudly say that now I have accomplished something. Though the road is not closed yet – we are working on a project to construct a big 5 stories office building, hopefully, to be done by 2020.

Dear Aimee and Boris – First congrads on your business it is vey impressive and we wish you the best of luck. I think we met you when you first started. I am sorry to contact your business, but it is probably the quickest way. Years ago you were breeding Cairns. We bought Jade off of you in the beginning of 2007, she was born December of 2006. She was the most incredible dog I have ever owned. Beautiful, smart, spunky with no fear. She was by my side every day but for 2 days at my Dads funeral. We recently lost her. I tried everything I could, 3 different vets , untold money but I would have spent any amount. I assume breeding is in your past but I am looking to see if her line is still active. It would give me some peace to know I have a relation of hers. I would be happy to compensate you for your time. If you could take the time either way to let me know it would be a god send. Thanks (772)260-8254 or (772) 871-1133
