Meet Juan Cabrera of ACE Restoration Services in Kendall

Today we’d like to introduce you to Juan Cabrera.

So, before we jump into specific questions about the business, why don’t you give us some details about you and your story.
I started working with a public adjuster back in 2007. I would go visit clients and evaluate damages caused by different types of losses. I then saw that lots of clients needed some type of guidance on how to mitigation or clean up their houses and or businesses. That’s when I realized of referring clients to a restoration company. About 2 years after that I ran into a friend that had a family member who owned a restoration company. I asked him if I brought him jobs if I could work the jobs together with him. We then started doing jobs together. My hunger for to learn and for success was second to none. I always envisioned if this was my company how I would do things different and improve certain aspects of the day to day operations. So then towards the end of 2009 beginning of 2010 I founded ACE Restoration Services.

At the time I had a Lexus SUV. I bought a small trailer and started renting and buying equipment and as they say the rest is history.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
Nothing about my journey to where I’m at today has been a smooth road. I have ran into obstacles that if not for my strong personality and thick skin and of course my supportive wife, I would have never overcame them.

Our struggles came in all different shapes in sizes. We have been criticized for doing things different. We have made difficult decisions. Some of which have been the wrong ones and some have been spot on.

ACE Restoration Services – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
We are an emergency service mitigation company. We specie in water, fire and mold remediation. Our specific area in the past few years have been drain backups. Lots of our homes in South Florida were built before 1970. That’s when they started making drains in homes and business out of cast iron. Those drains are over fifty years old and they rot, causing all kinds of problems for our clients.

Fortunately, if you have insurance, they are responsible for paying for the cleanup aspect and reconstruction aspect of this type of loss.

What has really separated us from our competition, is our willingness to work with all clients, no matter the extensiveness or complexity of the job. When clients evaluate their prospected contractors, they are smart and they have a sense trust that needs to be met. They as themselves, how much can I trust this person? Apparently and thankfully, we have been able to convey our sense of trust and that’s what I believe has allowed us to keep doing what we’re good at and love.

What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I believe success is subjective. Every person considers success to be in their own right.

Some might think success is a certain 9 to 5 job that brings them stability. I personally consider success by being significant. What I mean by that, I want to grow my company to having the ability to do tens of millions of dollars in revenue every year. There are companies out there that carry that model. They have been in the business much longer than us. Our eyes are on them and we are exactly where we need and want to be at this point.
