Today we’d like to introduce you to Aaron M. Abelto.
Aaron, please share your story with us. How did you get to where you are today?
I have always wanted to be an actor since I was young. I started my journey in the film industry in 2012 when I was a featured extra in the movie Step Up Revolution. As an extra, I never really got on-camera time. I was always put in the back of the scene. So because of the struggle, it made me want more. So I said to myself that when I go on set, I will use this time to learn instead of networking, which is what most people would do. I was very attentive to the crew and the different aspects of the production. I learned what was needed behind the camera and in front.
As I grew into my passion as an actor, I began to take classes and go on auditions. I booked a couple of commercials and my first acting role in a movie in Los Angeles. One of my first commercials that I was cast as the principal role was for a company called Consolidated Credit. After filming, I flew to LA to do my role in the feature film and learned what was needed to become a better actor. I also learned that if I was going to make it in this industry, I was going to have to do it myself. When I got back to Fort Lauderdale, I started writing my first feature film. After I wrote it, I had a couple of friends read it and they convinced me to film it. Honestly, I had no idea of how to do so, but I still did it. I couldn’t find a director at the time, so I took a shot at directing. After a couple of months of filming we had finally finished and had a movie.
During that process, I started a company with two of my friends at the time. We started Able 2 Film Entertainment that same year. As Able 2 Film grew, one of our partners left to pursue their own interests. At the time, we were about to release the first feature film entitled I Before Thee. My other partner Rajesh D. Felix had been shopping the film and was able to secure a worldwide distribution deal. Rajesh has been a great friend and inspiration to me and I am thankful that he is a part of this journey with me. Before Thee was released worldwide on April 7, 2018 on Amazon Prime, Walmart, and a bunch of other major platforms. After the release, I started working on my next project titled The Power of Movement which is set to release later this year.
My journey started off as an actor and I still get occasional roles in films. Acting is always my first love. However, my transition into being a director was something that caught me by surprise. I didn’t start off wanting to be a director, but becoming a director became my goal after I saw how experienced I had become. I could go into a location and see all the angles. One characteristic that my colleagues would say about me is how fluid I could tell a story. They would say you know how to keep the audience tuned in.
Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It has a little bit of struggle because of the nature of the industry. The entertainment industry can be tough on you both mentally and physically. But that’s why I love it. I believe that when you are pushed to the edge, your real character is revealed.
One of the struggles that I had to endure was the fact that many individuals did not believe in me. They believed that this was just a dream and that I should do something better with my life. Another struggle I had to endure occurred during the filming of ” I Before Thee”. When I decided to make the film, I didn’t have a budget for it. At the time, I was studying for my MBA and I told myself that I was going to do both. I wanted to finish my MBA and the film at the same time. Then reality hit me and I found out that I could only finish one. So I decided to take my school money and finish the film. I eventually finished my MBA, but it was well worth it. Funding films is the majority of struggles most filmmakers have. But I’m glad I made that sacrifice. It has turned me into the individual that I am today.
Able 2 Film Entertainment – what should we know? What do you guys do best? What sets you apart from the competition?
Able 2 Film Entertainment, Inc. (A2F), formerly known as Able2Film Productions is an independent motion picture studio based out of Los Angeles, CA, Fort Lauderdale, FL, and New York City, NY. Able 2 Film was founded in 2013. Together, we bring the start of a long-term, successful experience in the motion picture industry with a focus on creating movies and TV series.
Able 2 Film is also a full-scale studio specializing in script development, feature films, documentaries, TV series, and VR-designed films. We pride ourselves with our creative directors, hand-picked producers, and prodigious crew members who are passionately dedicated to their objective. A few objectives to mention are story power, trending entertainment, and a relatable purpose that reflects genuine identity with the film’s audience. Able 2 Film is currently known for the full-length feature film titled I Before Thee. I Before Thee was released on quite a few major platforms, this includes Amazon Prime, Walmart, Bestbuy, Google, Barnes & Nobles, and numerous other major platforms.
I am most proud of our company because of how we started, where we came from, and the work we put in to get here. What most people sometimes forget is the journey it takes to get here. I value the struggle because it will always be a reminder of the process that leads to success. With a large amount of sweat equity, Able 2 Film has now made the transition from a production company to a movie studio.
What sets us apart from others is our attention to detail in the creative dimension. My co-founder Rajesh D. Felix and I synergistically allocate resources where they fit best, which for whatever reason, is not a common theme with a majority of our competitors. We understand that film is a team effort and we place our team as an equal priority to our passion for making legendary content.
What is “success” or “successful” for you?
I define success as engaging in an activity that makes you happy. In the entertainment industry you are always measured by how much money your film makes. But for me, it’s all about passion and the enjoyment of bringing a story to life. When you can do what you love, it never becomes work.
