Today we’d like to introduce you to Marco Santini.
Hi Marco, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Marco Santini and I’m an award-winning artist, mentor, and inventor who draws inspiration from inclusion, positivity, and language. I found my life’s purpose in 2018 to spread love and positivity through art and education as a Conscious Creator with the support of my friends and family. This overwhelming support, mixed with my studies in Linguistic Anthropology from Brown University, translated itself into my One Love design, featuring the word love in over 80 different languages, meant to signify that there is more that unites us than divides us. This speaks to my greater message that we are all the same and all different, which is beautiful. Seeing these languages next to each other can give viewers a vote of confidence for a future of positivity, where we can appreciate Unity in Diversity.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Starting a new business always comes with trials and tribulations: being an artist is no different. Mastering your craft, developing a unique, creative style, and finding people who support your vision can be very challenging. Being an artist will test your true strength and self-value, but if you can stay focused on being your best self, anything is possible.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
A big part of my art is live painting, where I ask people a question and then incorporate their responses into a painting or mural. The final, interactive piece then becomes a symbol of an event, a celebration or a moment. During Covid, this aspect of my business really came to a halt, which forced me to turn inward. I wanted to learn from the greatest artists of all time so I took time to read many biographies and watch many documentaries. During this time, I found a common thread that linked all of the art icons we know and love. It’s with this insight that I created a new, 22-piece collection that bridges the gap between past, present, and future. Each physical piece is linked to an animated NFT and these designs will be featured at SCOPE Miami Beach with Makersplace in Booth F07 from November 29th to December 4th, 2022. I believe this series will give birth to a new art field that transforms historical relics into collaborative art pieces that can be enjoyed from multiple perspectives.
What were you like growing up?
My parents would say I was a very curious child who loved to experiment. From a young age, my parents chose not to ask me what I was doing, but rather why I was doing something. This slight distinction made me think about my process and allowed for greater exploration, through trial and error. When it came time for art, I loved mixing paints, painting in the rain, and adding a variety of mediums into paintings. I feel my supportive environment really enabled me to develop a creative freedom that has translated to different tasks throughout my life.
