Hi Autumn, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
I started out after school as an assistant to a very talented stylist for many years learning and soaking up everything I could from him working my way up to being a stylist in the salon and then after a few years I adventuring off on my own as a freelance stylist. I rented a chair and then a studio and through many years in the business I specialized in many forms of hair extensions. I loved to learn and always had a passion for hair extensions. Through my journey in the hair world and a lot of hard work I am now the proud owner of Autumn Markley Salon Studio. Specializing in live in Blondes, Balayage, all types of colors and cuts and most important Hair Extensions. I have spent many years training with some on the best companies in the industry. Over 15 years with Great Lengths, Bellami and my newest collaboration with Invisible Beaded Extensions the best form of application with hand tied wefts in the industry. My love has always been hair extensions. Seeing the transformation for someone’s hair to the length and fullness they have always desired. I am proud of having an amazing team behind me that share my love and passion for hair.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not a smooth road at all there have been many struggles along the way. But with every struggle there is something you can learn and always work on doing better. I have tried several different hair companies over the years and some have not worked out and I have had to do clients over. Sometimes the climate and all the fun events of South Florida can take a toll on hair extensions that is never easy. At the end of the day seeing the smile on my client’s faces is what makes the long hours all worthwhile.
Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a hair extension specialist specializing in fusion extension and hand tie wefts. I am known for my fusions and how quickly I can apply them. I have been doing hair extensions for over 18 years. I create a very natural and custom blend for all my clients. I keep several different types of hair in stock in my salon so we can custom blend right there without having to order and wait very long for your hair to come in. I’m super proud that I have been able to create my own salon where people feel comfortable and safe while they have their hair removed and replaced. I take pride in everything I do. I create looks for women that look natural and organic. Women are not always able to grow their hair into what they would dream to have this is where I can step in and help them create their dream looks that they can be proud of.
Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
You can’t be successful if you don’t take risks. I have taken several risks through my career from leaving my first salon and going on my own to my biggest risk of building out my dream salon. I even took a risk during the pandemic where we were home and had no money coming in I still invested in myself and my passion by taking the training for Invisible bead extensions and learned another form of application to add to my long list of companies that I have had the pleasure to train with.
