Life and Work with Maya Vander

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maya Vander.

Maya, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I started real estate in Los Angeles six years ago. When my husband relocated for a job in Brickell, I got my Florida licensee and Joined Douglas Elliman.

Real estate is a people business, you need to always be there for your clients. I am still building my network here since I am newer to Miami.

Overall, has it been relatively smooth? If not, what were some of the struggles along the way?
It is never a smooth road with real estate:) deals can go south, clients are not always loyal and it’s not as easy as people think it is. Many times I wanted to give up but I love this business so much and I believe the key to success is to truly have passion for real estate, know the market, be kind and understand that people invest their life saving buying a house, it is very emotional business and understanding this will help you close deals.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
I sell and lease homes and condo. I work with sellers and buyers. I do not limit myself to a specific home price but I do try to focus on areas I know and familiar with. In Los Angeles, I focus in West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Brentwood and valley, here in Miami, Brickell, Downtown, Edgewater, Miami Beach, Gables, and The Grove.

I always do the showings and 100% involved in a transaction, meaning make sure the loan is going smooth, the title company is providing with the right documents, present in the inspections, I am not a control freak but I like to get things done.

Were there people and/or experiences you had in your childhood that you feel laid the foundation for your success?
I did not come from money and I always knew I will need to work hard in order to support myself. Coming from Israel alone with no financial help is definitely not easy and I am just very driven and willing to work hard in order to survive. I think having a very simple childhood made me appreciate things much better and also stay grounded which because of that clients are comfortable with me.
