Hi Maniyah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Back in 2017, I was working for a celebrity event planner who seemed to have business all figured out. She was beautiful, successful, a go getter. Literally, if you looked up boss woman in the dictionary her name would be next to it. During this time I realized I didn’t know who I was, I didn’t know what my purpose was, I didn’t know where my life was. She unknowingly forced to open my eyes to the beauty of owning who you are with confidence, resilience, and tenacity.
Over the next few years I started healing internally and really doing the work to understand what made me different. I started journaling more, I started spending more time with myself and most importantly I started to love EVERYTHING ABOUT ME.
Today, I have ventured into several different media outreach platforms. I own a business called Light In The Dark Media LLC. that serves to bring ideas to light for small business owners via Web Design, Marketing, Photography and Videography. I have recently launched a podcast called Dear 20 Something and Beyond that aims to bring healing to young women through real and relatable asf conversations. And I own an online boutique called Be The Light, which serves to bring motivational messages to creatives.
I am a firm believer that things happen in divine timing and if I didnt overcome insecurity early on I wouldnt be the boss I am today.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road for an entrepreneur is never easy. You go through struggles and hiccups all the time. For me, my biggest struggle was tapping into the idea that “I am capable.” We all have that inner voice that asks “why you” and “who are you.’
-Why do you think you can elevate clients brands and who are you to think you can actually help them scale?

– Why do you think people will buy from your boutique and who are you to think youll actually make money from this?
Another struggle is silencing the voice of the people you care about when youve made the decision to not follow a more traditional path.

I BELIEVE EVERYONE HAS A PURPOSE
My number one gift is having the ability to bring ideas to LIGHT through photography, videography, and web design. Be the Light is my way of helping small business owners “do business” the way they always imagined. My wish, throughout our business relationship, is that if you learn one thing from me, it is that, you are worthy of love, fulfilling your dreams, and of pursuing your God-given purpose.
Sometimes life has a way of making us feel like where we are, is not where we should be. If I can speak from my own experience for many years I’ve been hard on myself because I know that I am meant to become more than what I am now. That, for some reason God chose me to fulfill a purpose that is bigger than what I could ever imagine and what I feel I can bare.
