Inspiring Conversations with Lorna Douglas of Arch Wellness Massage And Skin Care

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lorna Douglas.

Hi Lorna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I received my license for massage therapy in 2012. Since then, I have worked for several franchises, chiropractors and mobile massage companies. In 2017 I had a minor injury in my shoulder that resulted in me taking a break from massage therapy and enrolling in school for esthetics. After becoming dual-licensed as a facial specialist and massage therapist, I decided to work solely for myself and create a place for myself to work freely and independently so that I can manage my time between work and my family.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road but I must say that I have learned so much throughout the process. My business has moved locations several times; there were times I felt I was not good enough to be apart of this industry. I struggled with confidence and self-esteem and not knowing how to manage a business while suffering through postpartum depression when my daughter was really young.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Arch Wellness Massage And Skin Care?
Arch Wellness provides massage therapy and skin care services, including facial treatments and sugaring hair removal. I am known for offering therapeutic massages and body treatments for pain relief and pain management. All facial treatments are customized to help rehydrate skin, treat blemishes and aid to prevent breakouts and to progressively lighten hyperpigmentation. Sugaring hair removal is an alternative to traditional waxing, which uses natural ingredients such as sugar, lemon juice and water to create a paste that is molded onto the skin and effectively removes body hair from the root. What sets me apart is that I am dual licensed in massage therapy and skincare. My clients love massage and skincare packages.

Can you talk to us a bit about the role of luck?
I have had some bad luck when it comes to finding the right location for my business, but I do not regret it at all. I have learned from the people I was worked with and from the locations I have been to. Everything always seems to work out in the end and those that believe in me and my talents have been a great emotional and physical support system.
