

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristina Hernandez
Hi Kristina, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I initially thought of my business idea my first year of college in Fairfax, VA in my dorm room. My family are all made up of entrepreneurs, and I wanted to continue that legacy of having something of my own as well. I am a huge advocate for shopping small and giving support to local businesses. I’m always coming across small brands whether it is on Instagram or other forms of social media constantly thinking, “this brand is so under rated!” So it occurred to me that BundleBee, my brand today, can be that extra source of recognition these brands deserve through my very own. I started as an 18 year old girl e-mailing plenty of vendors that interested me that I came across. I was in shock when I started getting replies from small business owners that loved the idea and wanted to collaborate. I then thought to myself I really need to make this happen now. It was definitely a slower transition being that I was very young and had a lot to learn opening something of your own. Being back home in Miami, I was really able to put much more focus on turning this idea in to a reality. I already had a stable number of partnerships from when I reached out to vendors, and little by little I completed the necessary steps to launch. I launched during a pandemic, which was a very interesting to say the least, but was a challenge. I am still learning and growing being that I started a little over 3 months ago, but I am very excited about this turn out. I will never forget my family and I freaking out when the site crashed from the number of users visiting the page on the night of my launch. I created BundleBee for my subscribers to become aware of these small businesses through my very own, while receiving items that are thoughtfully curated and well put together. The feedback I have received so far is exactly that.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I definitely would be lying if I said this process has been 100% smooth. I am still learning every day on how to target my audience in the best way, and how to influence my brands niche. Thankfully I have had the best support along the way, because starting your own business is not all sunshine and rainbows. Whether it is technical issues on the site, stressing on what content you’re going to publish that day, order delays, the list goes on. My feedback from subscribers and people that have joined BundleBee’s journey along the way have really enjoyed what it has to offer, and this is only the beginning which is very exciting. The smaller brands I provide in my boxes are being enjoyed by people who had never even came across them before, and that was my ultimate goal to begin with! Little by little, I have plans in order to make this company grow where I want it to be.

BundleBee is a subscription box service, providing subscribers with our themed boxes every 3 months. Our subscribers receive five to six full sized items for just 59.99, with products in our boxes retailing all together for over $100. Our collaborations and partnerships are mostly, if not all, made up of small businesses all across the U.S. Our key mission is to spread awareness and recognition of these brands through our very own. We make sure the items in our boxes are thoughtfully curated, to bring bundles to our subscribers with items they most likely do not already own. What sets us apart from other subscription boxes, are our wide range of themes. Many subscription services have specific themes such as all makeup, all skincare, etc. Our boxes every three months are themed differently, and the items in the boxes are all essentials related to that theme. For example, our first box was a Fitness Bundle, so the items were all essentials related to fitness. This month’s theme has to do with at home wellness products (lotions, candles, bath bombs, oils, etc.) This allows our subscribers to receive boxes different from the last one, to keep the suspense exciting when waiting for the next box. We also provide the boxes of the month to be sold separately for a different price point for those who do not want to commit to a subscription. So far, I am extremely proud of the feedback I am receiving on how thoughtfully curated and unique the items are that my customers are receiving. For example, one of our items in that fitness box was a water bottle foam roller! It’s not every day that you see one of those. It is satisfying to see customers post on social media the items in their boxes being used in their everyday routine.
If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I had a very loud spoken and confident personality. I actually pursued acting when I was in middle school where I was recruited by an agent and did multiple commercials and print jobs. I was that 3rd grade little girl who was Dorothy in an all 8th grade play. I was that little girl who performed dances and “concerts” in front of our family-friends’ restaurants in front of people. I’d like to say I wasn’t too afraid of being the loudest one in the room, and definitely had a huge character. This definitely influences my overall personality on how I communicate with people. Everyone that I come across refers to me as a “people person”, being that I can talk to just about everyone. Don’t get me wrong, there can be days that I can be quieter and less out spoken, but for the most part I can talk to a wall if I could. My upbringing has definitely helped mold who I am today.
