Today we’d like to introduce you to Steven Menard.
Hi Steven, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I have been a massage therapist since 2002.
My first real full-time job as an Lmt. Was with Contour Spa at the Hard Rock. From 2004-to 2008, Then I did a small stint with a studio combined with a spa in Cooper City, Called the Mind-Body Connection. Then in 2011, I joined Equinox in Aventura.
With Equinox and being with them for 8 years. This is where I really had to improve upon my skills. So working with Trainers, Pilates instructors, and higher-end clients. Has helped me up-level myself, and provide better service and results.
Part of that is diving deeper into the Scraping, Cupping in my practice, and much more.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
As a Male Massage Therapist coming out of school in 2002, there were no massage chains at that point. It was very tough in getting a first-time start. That’s why learning the most I can, and being the best were so important to me.
I had about 1-2 times when I almost left the industry. These challenges taught me about grit, and always finding better ways to market myself. This led me to help more people.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Menard Therapy?
When I come across someone who says, “I never get massages!” It’s normally 2 reasons. 1. Either the therapist went way too deep. Hurt the person, and left them in more pain than before they came in. Or 2. The Therapist used too much cream, and just lightly rubbed the person, and the client felt no different.
These are 2 situations that I don’t do. You should leave my table feeling lighter, and better Range of Motion. I also don’t overuse cream. Allowing me to get the right type of grip and stretch the muscles. This is one thing that sets me apart. And that’s why I do a movement assessment before and after our session. So we can quantify the results!
My specialty is certainly in the more advanced sports therapies like Cupping, Scraping, Taping, Flossing, Stretching, and manual therapy. Also for the mama’s in your life. My prenatal massage is one of the best in the area!
I’m very proud of the amount of 60+ 5-star Google reviews. My clients have blessed me with! Aside from seeing me in either my Brickell office or Miami Lakes office. I can also help my client virtually on Video calls. Through Self care coaching using things like foam rollers, bands, and more!
What was your favorite childhood memory?
Every summer we would go camping at Stone Mountain outside of Atlanta.
There was always so much to do there. Hiking, taking the ski lift up the mountain, and walking down the mountain. The laser light show at night. One summer I would try to take some of my drums with me in the RV. My parents actually let me, to my surprise.
They were always so supportive of my passion for drums and percussion. I still play to this day. During that trip, we would also attend a music fest at 6 flags. We saw so many great bands and rode the rides for multiple days.
Those summer vacations were always so much fun for me.
