Today we’d like to introduce you to Kathy Jane.
Hi Kathy, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Kathy but Kat is what I’m really known as. 22 year old Florida girl but I’m originally from Boston.. Mattapan, Boston. A small hood with diverse demographics. I can say this Soflo environment does lowkey get your creative juices flowing. There is no telling how far I’d be with my ideas if I remained in my small city. I’m a mom first to my son, Amir, then a go getter right behind that. I go and get mine.. anything that I am after. Growing up in a Haitian household, I watched my grandmother use many natural remedies for the times we were sick, broke a bone or even developed a rash. I aspire to do the same for my family and loved ones, even you. Let me introduce you to some of the plants and oils that I learned about as a child and the new ones I am still continuing to learn about. I started Her Allure back in 2017, I had just graduated from high school so my mind was still all over the place about my future.
The products and services just wasn’t consistent and I knew little about running a business. I just had to fall back and take the time to learn what it is exactly I wanted to do and share with others. With time, I became more in touch with my roots as I was trying out different oils and plants for my health, hair and skin. I eventually took it to the kitchen and mixed things together to make stronger “foods” for my hair and skin. “People need to try this” is what I said when I seen great results and it all clicked that this is what I want to share with everyone. I now include it into my lashing business (Her Lashed) also and have many more products to create as I become an licensed esthetician. Facial treatments, soaps, creams and oil.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I face struggles STILL everyday. This is all trial and error. When it comes to my product recipes and sales, it’s all up and downs. I recently had my first pop-up shop at the Lauderhill mall and it amazed me how smooth that went since it was my FIRST. Sold more than I expected and I look forward to more shops that are just as smooth.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Her Allure x Her Lashed?
Her Allure is the base branch for what I have in store, it’s the start. Her Allure is my products, my oils and other items to come. Her Lashed is what’s next, my esthetician side. What sets me apart from others is, throughout this whole journey, educating is what I enjoy best. Next to running the businesses and selling these products. I am educating my clients and letting them know what is in my products plus the benefits for them, their hair, their skin. I am not just here to take money and give services. Know what you are getting from me. Understand why I am giving this to you. Understand that I don’t want to just lash you and send you about your way… learn lash care, learn how to grow them.
Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
In 5-10 years, I hope to be a celebrity esthetician or even just a salon owner that learns the game and teaches it to others like an influencer or just an instructor. I will have more products made that I hope to sell to professionals in the hair and beauty industry.
