Hidden Gems: Meet Dr. Tangier Scott of Strengthening Organizations to Attain Results EZ

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Tangier Scott.

Hi Dr. Scott, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Strengthening Organizations to Attain Results EZ (SOAREZ) is physically located in Miami, Florida.

Although we are physically located in Miami, we serve clients in-person throughout the South Florida area and virtually across the nation. Through our virtual presence, we are able to reach a wider audience and make a great impact in helping individuals and corporations Renew, Reset, and Rebound.

CAN YOU BRIEFLY WALK US THROUGH THE STORY-HOW YOU STARTED AND HOW YOU GOT TO WHERE YOU ARE TODAY? YOU CAN INCLUDE AS LITTLE OR AS MUCH DETAIL AS YOU’D LIKE.

I have always had a passion and spark for helping others to succeed.

Working in social/human services for 28 years as an administrator, and witnessing the struggles of our customers from various issues such as under-employment, unemployment, layoff, divorce, illness, loss of loved ones, evictions, self-esteem, and other risk factors with the primary aim to foster self-reliance through various services including counseling.

Additionally, when I think about how I have persevered and reset through life adversities to achieve success across various areas, I have a unique position to help others see past their current circumstance.

As a result of my proven ability to help others access resources and change their mindset to help them through various setbacks, my daughter once said, “mom, you should be a life coach.” I pondered this thought.

A short time later, she shared that in her city a certified personal and executive coaching course was taking place and that she thought it would be a good idea if I enrolled. I took the advice of my daughter, registered, and attained a certificate as a personal and executive coach.

A couple of years later, I took an extensive course and became a certified personal and executive coach. Earlier this year, I retired from the position that I held for over 28 years. Having incorporated SoarEZ 8 years ago, I am now working my business full-team as the President & CEO.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
HAS IT BEEN A SMOOTH ROAD? IF NOT, WHAT WERE SOME OF THE STRUGGLES ALONG THE WAY?

Building Soar-EZ has not been an easy road. It has come with sacrifice and putting in additional work to build the business that I know will make a great impact on individuals and organizations. While initially building the business, working full-time did not allow me to operate and invest the necessary time to build my clientele and brand.

In addition, COVID-19 being widespread has affected my business because of the vast remote working culture and lack of in-person events. I have not been able to engage in business development as easily as I would if we were operating more in person.

However, these challenges have created the opportunity to reach an audience using digital tools. Additionally, I have a business coach and a network of entrepreneurs who share resources and keep each other lifted up to achieve our goals. I have also outsourced needs to experts to help in areas such as branding and marketing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Strengthening Organizations to Attain Results EZ (SOAR-EZ)?
At the age of 25, I enrolled in college. As a non-traditional student, I was laser-focused on achieving my goal of obtaining a degree. After earning my Associate’s and Bachelor’s degrees I figured why to stop there.

While working, I continued on to receive my Master’s degree followed by my Doctorate. Continuing my education coupled with my dedication to helping others allowed me to excel in management roles in my profession.

Although my career path was not linear as I took a break to raise my children, I was able to reset and excel in a role that I loved and that left an impact on my community and the organization.

In addition to working in my roles in management, I was a leader in many community initiatives, served as a mentor for emerging leaders, and remained present for my family.

I have accomplished many things throughout my life, but what I am most proud of is the ability to live my life in service to others.

My 28-year career has been focused on helping others achieve their goals, through coaching, providing resources, program development, personal and professional development, and using research-based strategies to teach skills designed to renew, reset and rebound.

My community engagement is also focused on my desire to serve others. I was appointed to serve on two police oversight boards and currently serve on the State Attorneys Police Reform Committee. In addition, I volunteer as a Guardian Ad Litem. My passion for service further led me to be actively engaged with my Sorority, Delta Sigma Theta, Inc., along with another service organization for professional women, The Links, Inc.

Soar EZ is an extension of living my purpose in helping others to overcome setbacks, move successfully through times of transition, and go from surviving to thriving.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
CRISIS HAVE YOU LEARNED ANY INTERESTING OR IMPORTANT LESSONS DUE TO THE COVID-19 CRISIS?

As a result of COVD-19, I learned many important lessons. One of the primary lessons was how integral community and connection are to human survival. Going through a global pandemic demonstrated that we cannot exist on an island.

We all had to lean and depend on one another- from our essential health workers to educators and the entire community. As a life coach, I help individuals and organizations navigate through life’s challenges in a way that provides support and community.
