Today we’d like to introduce you to Allison Pezzuti.
Hi Allison, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I love Voyage MIA’s mission … I was the owner/editor of The Scout Guide Naples for 9 years advocating for and celebrating local independently owned businesses. I realized during that time that I wanted to build a brand of my own.
What mattered most to me about owning Scout was being able to connect with and love on people. I felt like creating a clothing brand would be a way for me to continue to do that. There is an intimacy to creating a garment for someone.
With that in mind, I created Pelerine. It means cape in a variety of languages. When we wear a Pelerine cape, we are wrapped in magic, enveloped in the love that the Universe imagined for us, taking us to an enlightened realm where we are larger than life. It’s meant to inspire and empower us, make us the heroes of our own life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
No, and yes. The process of making the first collection was easy — people, resources, production, ideas, everything came to me with little effort. When I launched, my first pop-up did really well. Then a host of challenges in my personal life made me pause the business for a bit — my parents had some health issues, my daughter was being bullied in school, and I had an allergic reaction to a medication that put me in bed for over a month and from which I took a year to recover. It made me move slowly and really test if what I was making was something people were resonating with. I found out that they did, and I am about to launch the next collection. I was also able to take time to think through what I could do for the community through the business. I want to spread the love to people experiencing a difficult time and share the magic with them. Beyond basic needs, I believe having something special is transformative. For every piece purchased, someone in crisis will receive a 100% silk Pelerine scarf in our vibration-raising colors and prints through partnerships with non-profit organizations. They will be available for purchase soon as well, so you can buy one as a gift for a friend going through a difficult time and could use a little magic.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I believe clothes go beyond an expression of personality; they have the ability to transform people. The materials we put on our body when they are natural fibers, are able to connect us with a higher vibration, our higher self, Source, whatever you want to call it.
Pelerine capes are made with love and 100% silk. They are the highest quality craftsmanship, thoughtfully designed, made with sustainable fabrics and processes, and an intention to connect with something greater.
Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
I love to hear from customers about how they are wearing their pieces, their stories!
