Hi Ariel, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Hi, I’m Ariel and I’ve always loved animals! Even since I could remember, animals have always been my passion and all I’ve focused on—working for 10 years in the veterinary field from kennel technician to performing anesthesia-free dental cleanings for our dogs and cats (more like best friends). Seeing how stressed and anxious the sweet babies get when arriving at the vet, I brought the ability to still have the oral care our fur babies require in the comfort of their own homes. In the hopes that most of their discomfort subsides. Just like humans, anything that we consume and ingest is left on our teeth and requires cleanings every 6 months to prevent periodontal disease. Single Fin Dental is my mobile anesthesia-free dental service company currently servicing the tri-county area, from Miami to Palm Beach County. It’s very important to try to keep our pups’ mouths clean and up to date on cleanings if possible. According to the VOHC,-Veterinary Oral Health Council, by the age of 2 years old, 80% of dogs and cats have some form of periodontal disease. I’m working in the hopes to assist owners with brushing the pups’ teeth and educating them on the importance of cleanings for our fur babies.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Oh my goodness, I started my business during the COVID pandemic’s peak and have been slowly building for a long time since. I wouldn’t say it’s been a smooth road at all but I also feel no day or situation is perfect. We have the power within us to change a situation or try a different route. If something doesn’t work the first time, you can always try again. Just like the saying, “Rome wasn’t built in a day.” I’ve just tried to keep the mindset throughout my company that, this is fulling for the dogs or cats’ benefit.
As you know, we’re big fans of Single Fin Dental. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
Single Fin Dental is a mobile anesthesia-free dental cleaning service that travels to all of Miami, Broward, and Palm Beach counties. The dental cleaning is all done in the comfort of the patient’s (dog or cat’s) home. After seeing the discomfort and stress some of our dogs and cats feel at the vet, I thought there should still be a way to help our babies with their periodontal issues and routine cleanings. Just like humans, it’s recommended to have a cleaning every 6 months for our fur babies if they allow it. My whole dental cleaning is done to alleviate any stress. There isn’t really any reason for them to work themselves up for a very easy-going time, during the cleanings music is played, cuddles are given and organic treats are provided for all pups, so why stress them out? There’s no need!
Any big plans?
I feel like 2023 is gonna be a great year for Single Fin Dental and myself. There are already plans in the works for each month of the year already. Planning to give back to the community and animal rescues in the area. Really looking forward to achieving the goal of 500 anesthesia-free dental cleanings we set this year! There’s really no telling how much or what we’ll do this year but I’m sure either way, the dogs will appreciate the oral exams and anesthesia-free dental cleanings they’ll receive.
