Daily Inspiration: Meet Roxana Echeverria

Today we’d like to introduce you to Roxana Echeverria.

Roxana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
I am realtor and also a Business educator. I have a Bachelor in Business Administration and a Certificate in Customer Relationship Management from Florida International University. I teach Business, Entrepreneurship, and Microsoft Office classes to high school students.

I have always liked real estate and since I worked in the mortgage industry when I was younger, I was inspired at a later age to become a Florida licensed real estate agent/ realtor. I love helping people find the home that best fits their needs and wants. Having the heart and patience of a teacher has been a plus because I also get to educate my clients and walk them through the real estate transaction.

My parents immigrated from Cuba when I was 12 years old and my sister was 4; at a young age, seeing the struggled my parents had to go through to provide for their family has been a tremendous lesson in life. It taught me to work hard, to constantly keep learning, to be persistent, and to stay humble.

My family is what motivates me, my husband, whom I met when I was 16 years old, and we have been together ever since, and my two amazing kids, my daughter, 14 years old and my son, 2 years old. My kids are my blessing and they inspire me everyday to work as much as I do.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Having a job and being an entrepreneur is a challenge, mainly due to the schedule. Many times I have to show houses right after I finish at school, and even work on Saturdays and Sundays; however, as long as I enjoy what I do, I do not see it as a burden, but as a passion, an opportunity life has given me and I welcome it with open arms. Sometimes I cannot make family plans on the weekends because I must show houses to a client, host open houses, or conduct listing presentations.

Thankfully, I have my supportive husband that helps me with the kids as well as my mother-in-law that also babysits frequently.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a licensed REALTOR® in the state of Florida with a mortgage and business education background working with Realty One Group Evolution.

When people work with me they get an experience. I want my clients to feel confident that when they choose to work with me they are going to be advised from the beginning to the end. I always keep my clients’ best interest as the #1 priority. I educate them on all the steps of the home buying or selling process, what to expect, all the upfront costs, etc. I firmly believe it will make for a smoother transaction. My goal is to have satisfied clients and for them to talk to their family and friends about their experience working with me. I greatly appreciate my clients’ referrals.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
My favorite childhood memories are spending time and visiting places with my grandparents. I remember I was about eight years old when my grandparents took my two cousins and I on vacation to a beach campground at “La Isla de la Juventud” in Cuba. One day we went hiking on a mountain until we reached a cave; we did a lot of exploring that day. Every night at dinner at the campground restaurant I was offered watermelon juice and I remember thinking “why are they offering me watermelon juice when I do not like watermelon?” The beach was nice but was a little intimidating because the sand was black, and I couldn’t see my toes when I was in the water. I kept thinking to myself: I wonder what’s down there and I can’t see it. I also remember how I got hundreds of mosquito bites during the vacation stay, that part was not fun. That was an awesome vacation, and I will never forget it. By the way, I do like watermelons now.
