Daily Inspiration: Meet Melody Pittman

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melody Pittman. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Melody and Taylor are a mom/daughter blogging team, who after several years of success, branched out from their original blog, Wherever I May Roam Blog, to start a second with the help of some vetted travel writer friends. Travel the South Bloggers was born to share stories from around a dozen travel enthusiasts from around the Southern states. Our writers range from having monthly columns in airline magazines to published romance novels, history books, and ghost tales, to name a few. Travel the South shares stores about 10 Southern states, we include Texas and Florida (often left out because they are so huge), and showcase what the south has to offer.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We had big plans for this site, to incorporate local advertising, local businesses, restaurants, and tourism boards. However, without having someone full time to dedicate to that particular job, because all of us have multiple other writing and influencer gigs, that didn’t pan out. It is also a challenge dealing with the tourism board side because the players change often. We have been very fortunate to obtain and retain some incredibly talented and dedicated writers, whom we are proud to work with.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I run this blog, our main site (Wherever I May Roam), do influencer campaigns, road trip gigs, freelance writing, and am currently writing my first book, out in the spring. Just keeping up with social media trends and Google algorithm changes is a full-time job, let alone going on the trips to write about and then finding time to do the writing. I’m most proud of the fact that I’m able to do them all, at 53 years old, which makes me feel relevant in today’s culture. What sets me apart is that I am as much an advocate for promoting a destination, namely lesser-known ones, that anything I will personally get out of it. I love to see the underdog succeed, and share unique places and spaces with my audience. I have a personal relationship with fans on most social platforms and have met many along the road while traveling.

Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Though I can talk for days about anything and everything, even live on camera, the thought of having professional photos done put a major fear in me. My upcoming book required a professional headshot, and I’ve managed to keep things real for the 8 years I’ve been in this career, by just using some random photo that truly captures me and my passion. But a professional one was necessary, and I sweated it up until the day of. Luckily, my photographer made me feel very relaxed, and though not the kind of photos I like or liked seeing myself in, my fans were so enthusiastic. And it’s now over. LOL
