Today we’d like to introduce you to Demario Hinds.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I started photography at an age when I was trying to know myself, at age 16. It started in an unorthodox way in which my father asked me to take a picture of this banana tree, and that because a habit which propelled into a passion.
Currently a student at the University of Technology, I’m definitely hoping to prosper in the filmmaking side of the creative industry as I’m releasing a debut film this year.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s a path in which I had to make mistakes in order to learn. In terms of not having contracts signed by a client, shooting on rolls that were expired, all that stuff. However, I’m grateful that I’ve learned from negative experiences and I’ve definitely improved outside comfort zone.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
My name is Demario Hinds and I am a digital/film photographer and videographer.
I believe what sets me apart is my aesthetic. I don’t shoot work that is happy-go-lucky in a sense. It is more dark, grim and moody. This has a lot to do with the music I listen to and the era in which it’s from. 90s hip hop. Biggie, Pac, Nas are a few of the musical creatives (lyrical&visual content)I’m influenced from.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
