Today we’d like to introduce you to Shameka Green.
Hi Shameka, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I was very shy as a young girl. My childhood trauma robbed me of my voice. I didn’t find my voice until I had to give a presentation in college on the sentencing disparity in my Criminal Justice Class. I rocked it! I was on a major high. I started strengthening my voice by speaking to women in small groups and sharing my childhood trauma.
I started to soar and used my voice to speak life into women at Empowerment Conferences. I wanted to teach women how to overcome their childhood trauma and live life on their terms.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly, some of my biggest struggles came from being afraid of how others would perceive me. I’m a black woman from Detroit with a certain accent. My name is very unique. Why would anyone want to hear my story? How can I empower women? I started to accept my authentic self. I owned my scars and became the author of my story. From fear to freedom is my story!
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I’m the Purpose Pusher! I’m the person that walks with you on your healing journey to guide you to your final destination. The destination is joy!!! My job title is therapist, grief & trauma specialist, and motivational speaker. Trauma no longer robs me of my joy. I’m free to be me.
Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
My books tell a story to spark hope! I’m currently working on a television show to highlight trauma and how it can impact our neighborhoods. The goal is to push HOPE when it feels hopeless.
I’m called to do this assignment. I’m standing on this platform because I have a voice. A voice that will comfort others. A voice that will empower people to grow through their pain to their purpose.
