Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Merritt.
Hi Lisa, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have been working in the beauty industry for 30 years, I started as an esthetician then focus mainly on makeup in 1996 until now. My career as an artist has awarded me the pleasure of working with many celebrities, with television, fashion shows, music video and weddings. Makeup has always been my passion since 7th grade; I was always fascinated with it. I love the power makeup gives those that choose to use it, the power of transformation and creation. Alluring Faces Cosmetics was created from that passion, with a complete line that includes vegan and cruelty-free lip gloss, high pigment signature eyeshadow palettes, organic body shimmer oils and so much more.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Nothing good comes easy. It can be difficult coming into a multibillion-dollar industry and trying to find your place against major brands who have deep advertising budgets. I believe if you work hard at it and provide good quality products, sales will come. I want to be a brand that is different. A brand that says natural beauty is okay, a brand that won’t scare normal women away. I believe underneath it all every woman no matter her age just wants to look pretty. I want my consumer to be comfortable wearing less makeup, understanding that it’s okay to want to look like yourself and still remain in style. I want them to release the fear of “nowadays” trends and the pressures of piling on layers and layers of makeup (which is not something that is done in everyday life). My motto is that makeup is not for the entertainment of others, but to make you look feel good about you.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love being a makeup artist, I really mean that. I love getting a client who has put a lot of effort into her career and somewhere through the years she realizes that she is still wearing the same makeup style since her teen years. I love creating a fresh new yet elegant style for her that is modern and sophisticated. I am known for clean and polished makeup applications. I am also a very versatile makeup artist; I have to the ability to match every skin tone.
How do you define success?
Success to me is doing what you love, when you do what you were created to do then you will never work only perfect your craft.
