Conversations with Jakob Takos

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jakob Takos.

Hi Jakob, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I am an audio and visual creator born and raised in Jupiter Florida. Music has been the center of my creativity. My passion for it was sparked in the 5th grade the moment a guitar touched my hands. By late high school, I’ve had played with different people and small performances. Having a band senior year that later carried over to my early college years. I would experience all types of gigs around locally and across the state.

Through the years, I’ve had been in a couple of other projects and bands, but the biggest common factor I saw they all had was the strong online presence created.

Using social media as a driving force for any musical endeavor I was involved in, I wanted to currently capture what was happening in the most authentic and aesthetic way possible.

The ability to promote a gig by posting and sharing it online to a place where people were giving all their undivided attention was significant to a working musician.

Along the way of running musical ventures online, I started to receive attention of local business owners asking me for advice and help. The more I spoke with different businesses and brands, the more I realized the value in creative content that accurately represents a business.

Their content was either outdated, noticeably poor quality, or really out of touch with what was currently represented. From there, it clicked for me to take another step further in a creative direction and pick up the camera and chase the ideas that were always in my head.

All of the creative ventures and relationships have brought me to my business which is called Nothing Negative.

Nothing Negative is a creative company dedicated to serving others through the principles of communication, creativity, and connection. NNC specializes in a variety of creative concepts and branding strategies.

Today, NNC comprises a team aiming to create consistent content that communicates authenticity within a brand with the intention of storytelling through digital content.

Fast forward today, I play guitar and sings in my band, Jakob Takos, and The Connection, but also freelance for other bands or any opportunity such as recording and writing. I’ve had the same resilient work ethic since I started working with my hands and ideas. The two key elements in my life are creating and connecting with others.

I just try to keep that close to music.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It’s never been easy, and I know it will never be, which sits fine with me. My biggest challenges and obstacles are the ones I put on myself through my battles with mental health. As I get older and keep creating, I learn how to navigate my emotions and channel them into my craft.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
What sets my apart is being a calculated risk-taker and a big communicator. One project I am passionately proud of is doing the photography for the travel guide series 111 Places You Must Not Miss visiting Palm Beach County. The book has done so well we just finished our 3rd version that is now out everywhere! Although it was a year ago now, I had a small scene as an actor in the newly released Paramount Plus streaming film The Day the Music Died: The Story of Don McLean’s American Pie. As of recently with Nothing Negative, my team and I continue to provide creative content and branding strategies that represents brands and businesses. One step and one day at a time!
