Conversations with the Inspiring Tilza Rizzo-Caceres

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tilza Rizzo-Caceres.

Tilza, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I have been in the beauty industry for over 20 years as a makeup artist in New York and Florida. During my makeup career, it just came natural to shape the eyebrows as I always felt a balanced eyebrow is essential to beautiful makeup.

In Palm Beach, I opened a makeup shop where my brow work gained recognition from local Palm Beach magazines and Lucky magazine. A few years past and I began to work for Anastasia Beverly Hills in Nordstrom as an Eyebrow Artist, my passion for eyebrows and excitement at the prospect of working for an iconic brand gave me immediate success at Nordstrom where I became their number one Eyebrow Artist in the country.

A few years later, after having gained a huge following, I felt it was time to venture out to the prestigious Biltmore Hotel/Spa and created The Brow Room. Soon thereafter, I needed to keep up with the latest trends in the industry, I went to New York to train in Microblading with world-renowned Nadia Afanaseva.

Today, I feel blessed to one Miami’s most sought after Eyebrow Artist as having had amazing recognitions from Allure Magazine and TimeOut Miami. My goal as an Eyebrow specialist is to always find and enhance my client’s true brows…

Has it been a smooth road?
It has definitely not been smooth as the beauty industry can definitely be very cut throat. I started in this industry in my early 20’s paid a lot of my dues but loved every second of it even the cutthroat part as it simply makes you stronger and smarter!

The advice I give to any young woman is practice practice practice and always remember you are never too old to learn and always admire and applaud other artists as we all at the end connect somehow in this industry.

Please tell us more about your work, what you are currently focused on and most proud of.
My specialty is eyebrows! I have always loved shaping people’s brows and teaching them how to enhance their natural shape. It is interesting as I am known in the area for creating beautiful shapes but the reality is what I am most proud of finding your true shape and bringing those hairs that are long gone back! Because of this, I decided to train in Microblading as well because sadly, those hairs sometimes do not come back. I love Microblading, it’s the only natural looking solution to fix those skinny over-tweezed brows. I also tint eyebrows, lashes, and offer lash lifts. Basically, I am all about the eyes!!!

I believe what sets me apart from others is the natural approach I have to eyebrows, I do not believe in following an eyebrow trend because if the trend is thin, you risk losing those hairs forever.

What do you feel are the biggest barriers today to female leadership, in your industry or generally?
I think the beauty industry is not necessarily difficult for females, I believe, however, that there is so much talent out there that the barrier at times is having the motivation to pay those dues which include working for free A LOT just to become an expert and be able to show your work in addition to having the maturity and discipline to take criticism in this industry. You will fall MANY times and you will cry even more but get yourself up, learn from that fall, embrace criticism and do it all over again until you have reached your goal and, of course, don’t stop there continue learning and continue creating!
