Today we’d like to introduce you to Cindy Chow.
Thanks for sharing your story with us Cindy. So, let’s start at the beginning and we can move on from there.
Cinsity grew out of the love I have for Miami. The magic city has given me the opportunity to experience new cultures and meet amazing people. Cinsity takes you to new places, events, and eateries in South Florida, all while supporting the local community. I also take you on my travels to different cities, both big and small.
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s definitely not been a smooth road hahaa. I don’t think anything worth having ever is. I’ve struggled with consistency which often leads me to feel discouraged and not good enough. I also feel that too often we compare our work or our lives to those around us and that’s just not fair to us. In the beginning, I was always concerned with what people would think of me or if people would like me or worse if people were unfollowing me (I know, I know), it was obsessive and so unhealthy.
Nowadays, I don’t worry about it as much. I have my days but I’ve learned that I can’t grow if I’m focused on what other people are doing. I had to stop and ask myself, “Why am I doing this?” And it was simple. I love to create and connect with people. It’s so easy to get lost and forget why you start something but that’s why it’s so important to 1. Surround yourself with people that’ll encourage you (that includes the people YOU follow) and 2. to focus on your craft and not compare yourself to others. Everyone is on a different journey. Love yours and grow through what you go through.
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into CinsityMiami story. Tell us more about the business.
So, overall, I consider myself a blogger and a social media enthusiast (specifically Instagram). Despite the negativity that surrounds social media, I see it as this amazing tool that keeps us connected to one another. I love it so much, I even pursued an undergraduate certificate in Social Media Marketing from FIU.
As for CinsityMiami, it’s a mix of lifestyle and travel. I love sharing my life with you guys. From life advice to places to go see, eat, do. And, I think that’s what I’m most proud of. The fact that I’ve created this platform for people to see and I’ve been able to get really honest and real with you guys. And trust me, it wasn’t like that in the beginning because it’s such a vulnerable thing to do, to put yourself out there and be who you want to be and not know how people will receive that.
It would be great to hear about any apps, books, podcasts or other resources that you’ve used and would recommend to others.
There is so many that I turn to! For content planning, I love the apps, Preview, Inpreview, and Planoly. Lightroom has also been amazing to edit my photos. And, a resource I always go back to is having a physical agenda. It helps keep me on track on things I want to do and accomplish.
