Today we’d like to introduce you to Chantal Pichardo.
Chantal, let’s start with your story. We’d love to hear how you got started and how the journey has been so far.
I’m a photographer, a certified makeup artist and a model. I am from Nicaragua and I moved to Miami about a year ago. I started photography 4 years ago, I was only shooting portraits and lifestyle pictures. When I moved to Miami, I got interested in fashion photography and I loved it! I would describe my photography style as simply adding elements to the image to make it interesting and beautiful.
I’ve been working as a makeup artist for three years now, I took a master makeup artistry online course by QC Makeup Academy and got my certificate, I’ve done weddings, commercial, editorial makeup but the one I love the most is connecting with people that would like to get their makeup done for their birthday, prom, etc. The feeling of helping them look more beautiful is amazing! It’s the best feeling ever, I love connecting and having a good relationship with my clients! Now, modeling! I started modeling 6 months ago and it’s been amazing! I love working with creative people and make amazing content! I’ve modeled for designers, walked in Miami swim week, and I just signed with an agency here in Miami! Even though I know it’s hard trying to balance everything I want to do, that’s not stopping me from doing it because it’s what makes me happy!
We’re always bombarded by how great it is to pursue your passion, etc. – but we’ve spoken with enough people to know that it’s not always easy. Overall, would you say things have been easy for you?
It’s been their ups and downs but that’s life. This industry is hard, and there’s competition everywhere. The best advice is to stop comparing on other people, that’s very toxic and won’t help you. Just focus on yourself, work hard for what you want and don’t give up!
So let’s switch gears a bit and go into your business story. Tell us more about the business.
I am a photographer, a certified makeup artist, and model based in Miami, FL. I’m very proud of being able to do these three things I love regularly. Even though it’s a lot to deal with, I am always having fun, I love meeting new people and being able to work with them! I think that what sets me apart from others is that I do so many things, each one of them is very important and they mix well together. For example, If I have a photo shoot with a client, I already know the type of makeup that would look good for the photo shoot, being a model has helped me a lot to know how to direct them. It has also made my work super easy!
