Community Highlights: Meet Yari Soto of Animal Lovers Rescue

Today we’d like to introduce you to Yari Soto.

Hi Yari, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I have been an animal lover for as long as I could remember. I started rescuing and fostering animals on my own at about 18 years old. My passion grew over the years and at 28, I decided to open up my nonprofit. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There have been many struggles along the way. When opening up a business, you think of how it’ll be and don’t realize all the necessary steps needed before getting there. The two main struggles were making sure all the legal aspects of it were done (so much paperwork!) and the other struggle was definitely acquiring funds. People are hesitant to donate to a new organization they don’t yet trust. Building that trust with the public has taken some time. It’s all been worth it.

We’ve been impressed with Animal Lovers Rescue, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Animal Lovers Rescue, we rescue, rehabilitate and find forever homes for many different kinds of animals. We take in cats, dogs, birds, reptiles, etc. I’m extremely proud of the team and following we’ve built. It truly feels like we’re a family working towards the same goal – to help as many animals as we can during our lifetime.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I feel like I’ve always been an extrovert – outgoing and friendly. My friends always tell me that if I could talk to a wall, I would. Love meeting new people & learning their stories. As for interests, I could go on forever. I’m a firm believer that you must try everything at least once, otherwise, how would you know if you’d enjoy it or not? Well, it’s that mentality that has earned me more hobbies than I can name. I love kayaking, hiking, camping, volleyball, salsa dancing, crafts, I could go on forever.
