Community Highlights: Meet Tamara Mitchell-Davis of TM Davis Enterprise

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tamara Mitchell-Davis.

Hi Tamara, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I’ve been writing since my youthful days. However, as a teenager, the only books I had seen were in libraries so my dream seemed so far-fetched. Once I became an adult and my writing continued, I would start and stop over again, losing motivation and being paralyzed with fear. Fear of judgement and fear of failure. It took me almost ten years to get the courage of sharing my story and being persistent enough to figure out the publishing and marketing process. Of course, my story evolved as life had taught me many hard lessons.

Once women started reaching out to me to understand the writing and publishing process, the business was created as I saw the need and wanted to fill the gap. The gap to teach, lead, inspire and empower other like-minded and like interested women. I always share how my very first book “GoalGetter” started the business because becoming an author introduced me to the world of entrepreneurship. It is with the start of one book that I’ve been able to build and help others along the way.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not been smooth but I can say it has been eye-opening. Some of my struggles, stemmed from childhood fear, trauma and lack of confidence in my own abilities, gifts and talents. My book speaks to some of the challenges and obstacles I had to face and overcome as a youth, young adult and single parent. I was determined to not allow my past dictate my future and was trying my best to figure it all out in the midst of chaos.

Sometimes you don’t know what you don’t know. And because of it, I made decisions because of my lack of knowing. However, I always had this hunger and drive in me. A hunger for wanting more. A hunger for wanting different, different for myself, my children and my family. That doesn’t mean that I am exempt from mistakes but I know that it is through mistakes that I was able to learn and grow.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As an award-winning and bestselling 6x published author, podcast host, speaker, entrepreneur, and the mastermind behind #theCEOWife, Tamara has helped other wives and moms turn their stories into the success that creates fuller, richer lives for themselves and their families.

It is through individual book projects, anthologies (book collaborations), conferences, virtual summits and trainings that I have the opportunity to share strategies and a wealth of information about the writing, publishing and business-building process. I believe that once you write your story, you don’t have to stop there. Because my book started the business, I know how to leverage stories to monetize one’s message and create a path to purpose and profitability through storytelling and the sharing of information.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
I enjoyed school so much that as a kid, I would be the one always playing “teacher,” creating lessons and passing out homework. I have always enjoyed writing, learning, listening to music and was apart of my high school drill team. I have to admit, I wasn’t too adventurous when it came to taking risk so I played it safe, for the most part. I think now I am inching my way into exploration by trying new things. I believe the world of entrepreneurship tapped into the creative side of me. That, which I never knew existed.
