Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Randa Djabri.
Hi Dr. Randa, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I always knew I wanted to become a private practice owner but never thought it would be so soon after graduation. I started planning to open a private practice in the middle of my residency year (December 2020). It started out as just a thought but I soon found myself searching for a location and things became more serious soon after the search began. I found the perfect spot and started building the rooms in the space. The whole building process took about 5-6 months. About 2 months after finishing my residency, I officially started seeing patients in my own office.
I am only 1 year into private practice ownership, so I’m still nowhere near where I want to be but I know that I’m getting closer to
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
This journey has not been a smooth road for sure. As a matter of fact, it still isn’t a smooth road a year later. In school, we’re only taught how to be great doctors. Each and every step of starting a practice has been a learning experience for me.
The business part of the practice has been the biggest challenge. The endless paperwork, doing the math and actually keeping up with the numbers, and staying organized were all part of getting started.
It hasn’t been easy and I didn’t expect it to be easy but I know the road will get easier and smoother as time passes.
As you know, we’re big fans of Synoptic Eye Care. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the services?
My practice strives to offer the highest quality eye care to each of our patients. My main motive for starting a private practice was to be able to provide every single patient with the time they need and the care they deserve.
I am known for my patience and my attentiveness with my patients. I take pride in making sure my patients don’t feel rushed and having all their questions/concerns answered before they leave my office. All optometrists perform the same eye exam, but the patient’s perception of the exam is what matters.
I always make sure to go above and beyond to make my patients feel valued. They had the choice to go anywhere else, but they chose to come to me.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
Most people don’t know that I love writing and that I used to be a section editor for my university’s newspaper.
Writing has always been my creative side and I hope to publish my very own book someday.
